If they do connect during office hours you will be lucky and even then you won't get speeds worth mentioning.

Servers are shaped during office hours because business customers take priority on the networks.
Try connecting after 18h00 tonight. Should get full speed then. Depending on cached/uncached content.

Also he might not have a supporting ISP. You need either a SAIX account (e.g. Telkom), or IS account to use those respective servers. Otherwise they won't work.

no, those are the only two free News Servers in South Africa.

I don't think you will be able to connect with the Screamer account. (Somebody will be be able to tell you YES or NO)
But you will most definitely be able to connect to saix.net with your MWEB account.

Just wait till tonight 18h00.

There is an mweb server, with Screamer some people were able to use the Mweb and IS ones but that may have been blocked by now (from Mweb/IS side).

Not sure of the Mweb address, try news.mweb.co.za I guess or search the forum.

IIRC MWeb resolves to news.saix.net.

Not 100% sure but I don't think so. On the Webafrica trial people were able to connect to the Mweb server but not SAIX, he'll have to just try both out I guess.

Anyone using the Axxess SAIX Local @ R13.50?

Mine doesn't connect at all to the news server.
