ffs I'm 58% on the last file of a 4gig download I can't get connected to SAIX news server tried to connect since this morning

it is driving me crazy - I thought it's supposed to be difficult at the end of the month when everybody is using up local?

I'm going to crack tonight - this news server is really driving me mad!!!

It's taken 9 hours but I finally got a connection to the IS news server again. That's the longest I've ever waited for a connection. Just hang in there, it's still better than dial up, most of the time.

so just grab the last file from Giganews. It won't use that much of your international cap.

I honestly didn't think of that. But the rant worked - been flying since yesterday!

Giganews have extended their free trial from 3 days to 14 days... so you get ten gigs to use over two weeks of the free trial.

.. and also... their mid-level subscription has now increased from 25 to 35 Gigs.

.. if only Telkom increased our caps every now and then

When I download something that is uncached, would I need to be using my International cap or would my local cap still suffice?

no you still use your local cap, the problem is the server only allows the downloading of uncached files during the night, atleast thats my experience.

Uncached stuff is hard to get, but once its been successfully downloaded by someone through the server, it becomes cached for a short period of time. During this period, everyone quikcly downloads it without too much hassle.

If you are downloading from SAIX or IS, it doesn't make any difference if you are using local or international... it won't affect the speed. Just use your local.

Oh, it will definitely get bogged down as soon as all those who are currently raping the SAIX1 server get wind and fire up their 32 connections on this server as well. Why have 32 connections on one server when you can have 64 on two?
