Remotely as in ... Remotely - whether that is from another networked PC or from Hawaii during your yearly vacation, the principle is the same.

Yes this software does exist, but I cannot even remotely remember the name of it. :p

Thanks for stating the obvious. If it was just for his LAN I would have said install Ultra VNC and configure it on each pc. It gets a bit trickier if you have to do it over the internet. Before you state the next obvious, I'm aware he wants to manage his nntp downloads from a web interface, although I'm not aware of such software. Capisce?

Yep, but that is why I am here. :D I strongly recommend SABnzbd, Daveogg. Give it a go. Only heard good things of it.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm going to try it.
If anyone's interested, it's 5.4MB, but they only tell you this once the dl is underway.

Why in dog's name has SAIX1 been performing so poorly the last two days? I get connections but they're damn slow. I'm not sure if the stuff i'm d'ling are cached but that hasn't been a problem in the past.

r having the same problem since 4:30 this morning. The connection died sometime before that. Extremely slow connect before that:(
Normal http access still runs at 39 to 42 kB/s.

Constantly dropping connections, and they're pretty slow when I do have them.

Does anyone know what Usenet status codes mean? I've googled but haven't found anything to explain them, I'm getting a status code 436, 0, and I think also 431 and 211.

the website http://www.tcpipguide.com/free/t_NNTPStatusResponsesandResponseCodes-3.htm is quite useful for that.

0 - not a valid status code, must be 3 digits
211 - n f l s group selected (Successful response to the GROUP command, indicating the estimated number of messages in the group (“n”), first and last article numbers (“f” and “l”) and group name (“s”).)
431 - transfer not possible; try again later
436 - transfer failed - try again later
