I suppose when times are tough connections are few... BTW just managed to finish a download about 5 mins ago..took 28hrs......that was insane!!

news.saix.net and news.mweb.co.za both resolve to the same IP.

If you're looking for a definitive explanation use news.saix.net - there's less typing involved.

Whenever I connect, It goes into IS mode. Seriously, on one connection I get two SAIX threads and 5 mweb newsserver threads (which is IS I think)... So far, no one has been able to replicate this.

\took me two days to download a 5GB File but that i understood wasnt Cached i think, think max i peeked at was 100kb/s... but when downloading cached and common thigs downloads pretty fast at 380-507kb/s. Still going strong....

As for the Confu3ed, uhm... a few reason to why you suffering ewith downloads, umh, too many users, telkom, SAIX is floaded, Telkom, get a local only account and download at the begining of the month or in the middle, Telkom...Hope you seeing a pattern... LMAO

This is weird.

I have been able to connect immediately N.Servers. No problems.
I can resume a download of an article immediately. No problems.

Here's my issue:

I have a 384 line. Theoretically it is impossible to download at greater than 48KB/s.

HOWEVER, Alt.Binz shows a download speed of 108KB/s with peaks and valeys..

Looks like a digital graph readout, something like this: _____|¯¯|____|¯|_____



Only my network card light blinks like nothing else, so obviously there is constant network activity.. and it never disconnects the current connection..

Check whether your anti virus software is intercepting the articles first.

Some people have reported that exact behaviour, and fixed it by letting news server articles "bypass" the AV.

I use Avast, so how do I do that?

Not sure on Avast but just look around for text scanning and disable it.

Double click the Avast icon, then under "Internet Mail" click Customize, choose the NNTP tab and there you can enable/disable the scanning of news articles. See if that works, I can't test it cause I didn't install the "Internet Mail" service for Avast.

Avast did exactly that with me - the fix was to install NOD 32

Found it and disabled it.

Connected to SAIX1 at 41KB/s. Went down to 1 thread though..

Hey guys.. Having download issues with Grabit and Alt.Binz here..

Basically, it downloads an article (two threads), then takes about 30 sec to a minute to connect to the next article/thread.

It stays on 4kbs left as you can see in the pic, until it gets another connection/thread 30 sec to a minute later..

It downloads quick (200kb/s +) when it connects to the article and starts downloading, but this delay causes long download times..

Any ideas?

I've tried news2.saix.net also... Same problem..

Im on 4096 / 512 ADSL with telkom internet 3GB.

Tried it on 2 different SAIX accounts

Yup. Newzhost down. Bitfarm and bitfarm tracker down. Guess someone broke something coz even when the sites go down the tracker usually stays up.

Ja, I get the same thing. In AltBinz the thread will fly (on my 384, anything flies) and then just before the end it hangs for quite some time, and then finishes the thread and carries on.

I don't know why it's doing this, but it is frustrating.
