Is it me or is 24.com News (South Africa tab) becoming 90% murder and death news.

What happened to the real news in SA?

FFS News 24.com please report something of interest besides constant murder and death

SA news makes me sick!!! jissis and depressed:mad:

What do you guys think? Is News 24.com South Africa tab really representative of Life..or Death in SA:confused:

They could report on high telecoms prices, corrupt ministers, highway tolls, gravy train trips, wrongly fired (deputy) ministers, ill-spent tax money, daily inflow of illegal Zims into SA, parlimentary outbursts, the stinking hot spring weather, etc.

Flower-growing competitions and how well mrs. vermaak's jumble sale went last thursday.

Death and destruction is the news in SA. IOL is much the same.
 
If it is true reflection of current goings on, then so be it. Crime is out of control...

I don't want the media to stick their head in the sand on this, because that allows government to do the same.

Government already stick their heads in the sand...ermmm actually more like concrete.

Fully agree with you. There so much more happening that's newsworthy but isn't being reported on, and no they're not representative of things out there.

Because we live in a war zone and the police blame crime on a security guard strike, perhaps.

The thing is, if there are at anytime say 10 stories on the 'South Africa" tab and they show 8 or 9 murder/death stories it creates the impression that this is South Africa. Probably equally in countries with similar population sizes to us in say Europe for example probably also have their eight or nine murders a day, but th way its reported here its like this is our life, death death death murder, rape, hijacking, atm blowing up, people being butchered in their beds, shot in the face etc etc

Its horrible, Jissis!!!

They should have a tab like "sport" called "crime" and then report all that doom and gloom.

Just because I don't want to read the sports page doesn't mean I'm sticking my head in the sand and the same principle should be for people who don't want to read about abovementioned crimes etc

and yes wouldn't it also be nice to hear about something other than death/fear/hate/corruption..I wouldn't mind reading about something else in the news for a change except this tripe!

I actually avoid News24 lately because i believe it physically does something to you when all you hear is such horrible sstories. I find IOL a little more balanced in their stories. BTW, who owns News24? I know they're part of Media24, but who are the individuals behind the News24 website? anyone care to elaborate?:confused: It might explain a few things, you'll never know.
