News24 and Netwerk24 grow subscriptions — raking in R11 million per month

News24 and Netwerk24’s paywall subscription models have been very successful and have helped Media24 to make a strong recovery.

Naspers’ interim financial statements for the six months ended 30 September 2021 revealed that Media24 increased revenue by 64% from $84 million to $129 million year-on-year.

I was going to ask but I see you guys covered it:

These subscriptions now contribute around R11 million per month to Media24’s top line, as shown below.

  • Netwerk24 – R8.009 million per month
  • News24 – R3.075 million per month

Not surprised by Netwerk24 since its subscription has been running for longer (I think) but also: Afrikaans people will pay for Afrikaans.

What I don't get is why anybody would pay for News24.

Maroela Media tjom. Verniet. Afrikaans.

Will not pay for News ever.
Also can they please take me off their mailing list.
I have unsubscribed from every single list yet their mails still keep coming

If I am not mistaken, if you are subscribed to get the Beeld newspaper delivered to your home, you automatically get access to Netwerk 24, whether you actually have access to the Internet or not or whether you use the service or not. I can't help but wonder how many people are out there who are included in this statistic. I know two old people in my street who both gets the newspaper delivered but does not have access to Netwerk 24, although they can access it at no costs if they want.
