Hi guys,

I've setup a Nexenta Server and I've basically run into a bit of a wall here. I'm hoping someone can explain to me where I might have gone wrong.

I have a folder I've shared via CIFS which I've named: "Data"

Permissions are set Anonymous (SMB) access with the default nexenta password.

I have another folder shared via CIFS which I've named: "Private"

Permissions are resticted to a single user: Sharon

I want Sharon to be able to access both the Data and the Private share, as well as make changes (add, modify, delete) on both these shares. So I added the user:Sharon to the folder and gave her create, modify and delete permissions, and I've done pretty much exactly the same as the SMB user.

Problem I'm facing is that when I create files using the Sharon account in the Data share, everyone with Anonymous (smb) access can see the file, but cannot access it. The same is true when I create files using the anonymous (smb) account in the Data share, Sharon can see but cannot access these docs.

Anyone out there faced a similar problem?

Thanks!

Okay I've managed to get this working by adding the following permissions to both of the accounts:

Inherit - subcaterogies - Tick the following:

* Inherit to all newly ceated files in a directory

* Inherit to all newly ceated diectoies in a directory

Hope this helps somebody somewhere along the line. I only hope this is the most efficient way of doing things. If not, I'd appreciate someone correcting me.

Cheers
