<flame suit> South Africa was here way longer than the 100 odd years ago the europeans arrived. Let the guavamint change everything - it will cause fighting in their own ranks as naming things is actually prioritising in order of peoples importance..... and every "Freedom Fighter" wants their slice of fame..... look throughout history. SA is not unique in this regard. </flame suit>

Does anyone remember a CODESA undertaking not to name places after people?

There were these undertakings in various agreements. But humans have short memories when it becomes selfish indulgences of grandeur. And so they have lied then with the undertaking and what lies are going to lay ahead? ANC cannot be trusted to keep their word at all, so why bother to even engage into agreements with liars? Who was this person anyway? I though communism meant you did not elevate a person above the party? Human nature never changes does it?

Feller ... if you want to make your point, don't bend the facts ... it makes you look like a liar.

ok... IanC, you are right, so I'll re-write it, seens the timeframe was *NOT* the point of my message... this was the essence of my original posting, just was missed.

How did Shaka contribute to freedom against apartheid?

And why on Earth call it Mabhida who belongs to a communist party which supports communism? WTF?

Hey soon it's no longer gonna even be Durban, it's gonna be eThekwini. By all means I don't care if they can go ahead and rename **** all they want - AFTER they sort out other problems facing the country.

This wasn't the same essence that was used by Alex Erwin was it? The reason I ask is because the rest of SA missed it as well.

It would appear I need Dr Who to deal with your posts ... since I can't seem to get the timeframe right.

the names will allways change with fashions.. after the SA revolution when the ANC is not in power, the new Government will change the names again... No matter what the public say, its a done deal. as someone was quoted in the last american elections... "Never underestimate the power of mass stupidity"

Nobody promised 'neutral' names, why use neutral names when there's an opportunity to honor heroes?

A communist a hero? Looking at the current actions of the leadership of this country they don't care much for communism.

What DID they promise and why did they break it? Let's bite the bullet and be honest for a change.
