Nigerian Scammers after my Macbooks on Junkmail. Driving me insane!

Even Bid or Buy has a few scammers. They can at least be blacklisted, but they keep coming back as a different user and freeze your sale while it is being sorted out.

You have no idea how many people get spammed every day. The worst thing is how "stupid" some people are. We work closely with a classifieds company, and we so often get letters of people that just paid someone overseas R20 000+ and didn't receive the goods. Mostly cars.

Having never seen the car, nor spoke to the seller that conveniently immigrated overseas, they simply pay loads of money into a bank account, or should i say black hole. Now tell me that ain't stupid

Loads of scammers on Gumtree, and not sure they're all Nigerian. Local is lekker: as in, sell to people in your city, cash in hand.

I sold several items through Junk Mail in the past, but have not done so again for several years. The reason being these scammers.

They usually send SMS messages with only really the name and number being different from one to the next. My golden rule is, if they cannot afford to make a phone call, they cannot afford the item.

Of course this is only the first of several early warning signs one must look out for.

I agree, those who dont make the call is ignored by me!

Secondly, any person saying he is not close by and will send someone else - I put down the phone.

Thirdly, any person saying he will deposit the money into my account - I put down the phone.
