Night time ADSL speed totally screwed - Axxess

Sorry - title should read 'latency' not 'speed'.

I know this is the gaming section but I figure many gamers will be able to confirm since this happens at night when us gamers come out of the woodwork.

I'm on Axxess and was trying to play BF3 earlier - no chance! Ping was sitting in the 270ms region. I noticed a lot of other local guys had ridiculous pings too and a couple on my voip had the same - couple of the guys on Afrihost. I tried to do a ping test and couldn't even connect to a server. Couple of the guys on MWEB were fine.

Also to the DCS guys, this explains why we were lagging out on my server last night.

I'm using Afrihost, not really a gamer but I also noticed a huge increase in latency last night and tonight. During the day, using speedtest.net i get roughly 30-40ms and the evenings I was getting around 350ms

Hmmm.... I have been having line issues since April and got an SMS the other day saying the problem was resolved. During the day, the problem is gone - but at night I get latency and slower download speeds. So I replied to the SMS saying line NOT fixed. Hopefully it is something small that they can sort out quickly.

Don't know if anyone using Axxess/Afrihost is aware of this but they changed their service provider from IS to MTN. Have been experiencing the exact same issue and the reply I got from them was "Our upstream service provider has been experiencing problems and are working at resolving the matter".

Now I do not know about you guys but if this is going to be the trend we can expect from them I will be looking at changing ISP's quite soon.
