I imported the Nike+ FB (via MyUS.com) and have been using it for more than 8 months. I use the fuelband and the Nike+ running sensor together. The fuelband is really just a pedometer but it is a fantastic motivator, since you want to reach the fuel-goal for the day.

I have not come across the fuelbands locally and when I spoke to Nike (both locally as well as US) before my import, they had no intention to make the product available locally in 2012. This might now change since I recently came across Nike+ GPS watches at Incredible (the one Woodmead).

BTW Discovery's new Living Vitality (still in beta) allows now the sync of Nike+ data which is great.

iStore in Fourways has them and most of the sport shops. Any Nike store or Total Sports or Sportsman Warehous will have them. I think they go for about R250.

I see the Nike+ and Fitbit apps now basically function as basic bands when combined with iPhone 5S motion chip. How much points do discovery vitality really give for it tho? And are those attainable on an ordinary day?

I've been using 'Moves' for a year now so the pedometer and knowing where I was is pretty much covered hence understanding what discovery gives points for is more important as I can easily see how much points I'd gain using their preferred apps

You will easily make the points per year and the Nike+ syncs with Discovery. They do have frequent issues and the sync drops or syncs events over multiple days for the same day for which Discovery then only awards one set of points. I have not been able to properly figure out how the allocate points, but you will need to do at least 30 minutes continued activity. I think Discovery reads the Nike+ data all wrong and I have not been able correlate data from Nike+ and Discovery (it also seems that Discovery does not take time-zone data into account and seems to have some issue with syncing - not sure if it is just Nike or all).

Either way - as an example: If you jog 5km at a pace of 5:15/km that will give you 1800 fuel-points. I pretty much do this in the morning every day (and 10km on weekends) and Discovery awards sometimes 300 pointers, other times 150 and in some cases 50. If their timestamps are not off, I had a 10km run receiving 50 Vitality points.

Also Discovery only syncs back 1 month - so be aware of that. I found the easiest way to get points is either to do Saturday park-runs (parkrun.co.za) - a 5km run gives you 500 points and since you are on Vitality going to gym gives you 150 per session.

I started late with running and Discovery syncing last year (around September) and managed to get to 54,000 points in the few months (bear in mind that I did a few 10km races which sometimes account for as much as 3000 points per event).
