Thats the problem the cuzies have all 3 and every other one, and games equally to match
roflmao. no pressure at all. Few mates at school though are divided amongst xbox and ps4, the swtich doesnt seem to be popular there.
Tough decision!

We have all three: Switch, XBox One, and the 11yr old boy :)

My son prefers the switch over XBox but the XBox is better for when playing with friends. XBox with Gold sub is the best value and I don't buy games as there are enough titles in our library from the games with gold.

Switch service is a dissapointment but needed for online play. Cheaper but as mentioned titles are more expensive. My son plays mostly Zelda, Splatoon2 and Fortnite.

I as a parent prefer the switch due to the parental control app on my phone. I can lock / unlock his device and allocate his play time. I can also monitor what he does. Used it the other day to get him to help me fetch stuff from the car. I did not feel like shouting his name so I just disabled his switch from my phone, 10 seconds later he was running around looking for me :)

To be honest get both.

100% and same situation - the SO has an 11 year old and he lives on the Switch when he visits with us. The only time he is on the Xbox is when the Switch battery dies :p But ja, that start up cost is pretty damn daunting.

Switch is cool ans great games... think its better for kids and adults.

Problem is games, few shops stock them and those who do are super expensive. Cant find a pre played game at any bt games.

Xbox and ps games you get from 100 at a bt or cash crusaders, same for second or third controller.

Switch itself is now over 6k, then u need q mem card, a s case, a screen guard and 1 game and u in the 8k range.

But!!! Mario odesy is superb!
Mario u is comming , so is luiguis mansion and many more

Xbox.

Most of his mates at school will have either an Xbox or a PS. That way they can exchange games.

@technojunky something I forgot to mention was the EA Access for the XBox @ R300 per year. Gives you a whole lot of popular older games.

Also if you go the XBox route then get an extra controller.

I doubt there will be any killer deals for the Switch this weekend as it is still popular and Nintendo did not want to budge on their prices last year (spoke to a game department buyer about it).

Thanks @cbrunsdonza - I saw BT have the Switch and Tennis for R6499 or so and other place was Dionwired also around the same price. The Xbox deal is all over and about half the price of the Switch. The nintendo pop up store in Sandton Sq is not saying anything about what deals will be, but need to come in store on Friday to see :-( :-( Sandton City on Black Friday - uhmm unless its really worth it.

Whilst browsing I came across Amazon that has the swtich for R4200 (when converted to ZAR's) though I have no idea about the safety of buying through there and the after service if needed.

Thank you, wow fantastic post. I didn't know about the parental control function - that's pretty cool.

I am very tempted to just get both tbh. just need the right deal :-(

Xbox also has some solid parental control options but nothing like controlling it from the App (that I am aware of anyway).

But I get a weekly report on activity and you can restrict what they can and can't access.

Yeah I wouldn't do a Switch anything other than with digital games.

Price and portability being key.

Nintendo gets the local market just like Microsoft does. Sony is still a lost cause.

Gonna get berated here for saying this but buy him a mountain bike or something that's healthy that he can still do with his mates

Wise advise absolutely but got him the bike already. been holding off a console for a while now.
Have him using the old Wii (Wii sports, resort and others) all this time for the movements. :)
