Nintendo warns of Switch slowdown

Nintendo Co. expects to sell 15 million units of its Switch console this fiscal year, showing the extent of the slowdown for its six-year-old flagship product.

The Kyoto-based games maker’s guidance falls shy of an already cagey average analyst estimate of 15.7 million units, which has taken into account a deceleration in hardware sales in recent months.

Hopefully, this goes along with more/better discounts.

Even a Xbox Series S that is way more capable than the 6-year-old Android tablet sells for less.

Yeah, Nintendo and discount are oil and water. Would be nice but very unlikely. The are more likely to bundle it with a game and keep the price the same

Nearly 7 years with no hardware price cut? Must be a new record even for Nintendo. I'm very happy still with the capabilities of the Switch (faster loading woud have been even better). Also very excited (and frikken nervous) about the Switch successor. Nintendo is know for gulping the crazy juice.

Just-just pips the Wii as my favourite console of all time due being able to play during loadshedding. Bring on the Super-Switch-Pro+ (hopefully next year March!)

Well they did come down with Switch V2 in November

Prior to this it use to be R7999
November - December R6899 (When I bought my wifes)
Now I regularly see it go for R7299

So there is hope.

As for Oled, I have seen them drop to R7999 on Takealot.

Should be the norm, not a sale price, is what I am saying/

There have been a lot of rumours of Switch 2 announcement in the summer.

Not Eating nothing-burgers (no sauce please) anymore. It will release when it will release. After tears of the kingdom (will not beat breadth of the wild sales) and pikmin 4 and the DLC for Mario kart, etc, I see nothing major for the rest of the year.

We're due a mainline Mario game. Would make sense to release alongside the next console

Discount on the console will be great. I need one each for my kids. Perhaps they can do a robust version of the lite ? yes please.

Playing the switch during load shedding has just been the best.

Just bought a second dock (R2000) for this reason. The lounge TV uses 2 much power and was tired of moving the dock and all between the bedroom & lounge.

Release Bloodborne 2 and Elden Ring on the Switch!
Bloodborne 2 is Sony's IP just like Demon's Souls. Never going to happen. Plus the Switch will melt running Elden Ring or will have such a low res that it looks crap. That's why I stick to Nintendo 1st party games and exclusives on Switch.

Freaking Nintendo man... what the hell? The Switch is so outdated by now. I think they're so scared of having a Wii -> Wii U situation again. But I don't think that would be an issue with the Switch because literally all they need to do is release a device with the same OLED screen and upgraded internals, and people would buy it instantly. Throw in backwards compat with Switch 1, even maybe with some upgraded visuals, and it's a no-brain day 1 purchase for me.

And they must call it Switch U ;)
