They are extending pipelines from nooitgedacht scheme .
Drilling multiple bore holes .
There is a desalination plant in progress/ about to be built .
Some of these won't be completed before year end when day 0 is most probably hitting us.
You see here is the thing about large scale boreholes....They cause cracks in your house.

You see the water is pressurised in well an underground lake. Suck that up and well there is nothing to hold the landmass up too, so it either collapses (causing a sinkhole) or well it sinks.

So take for example Jakarta. Jakarta as a city is sinking by wait for it 20cm a year into the ocean, nope its not global warming, they are sucking all the fresh water by masses of boreholes from underground. Thus the land is slowly sinking to fill up the gap removed by the fresh water.

Same happened in Tokyo, but well the Japanese noticed it and all boreholes stopped almost immediately. And the Japanese figured out other ways to get to fresh water.

However it doesnt make a difference in the Western Cape...as all the people from the Eastern Cape has already moved here...and we have dams filled to the brim.

The western cape can tell you that a desalination plant is a waste of money and a white elephant. There were rumours of 6 going active here. Currently there are none. I think the last potential one got dismantled and sold off.

Unless plans have changed the desalination plant here is supposed to be part of a chlorine production facility.

So its been 4/5days without water and really not fun here in Lorraine. Briefly had water for about 2 hours on Saturday but that's it. I have seen some videos on the NMBM Face from the DA MMC of Water saying that sabotage is at play at the Chelsea reservoir but very little communication has come from the Municipality even before this.

Off topic, but which smaller parties do you think are viable besides the obvious (ANC, DA, EFF, VF)?

I mentioned it a few pages ago, the outages are really too frequent now to be just 'lack of maintenance' I reckon. But it could also be a knock-on effect i.e. one set of pipes being repaired and the system pressurised which causes issues in another pipe network or whatever. Who knows.

Yeah. Someone said that in the higher lying areas they have been +- 30 days without water this year. Its really bad.

I think its a massive mess. They need to have better communication. No one is actually saying anything to these residents besides "Sorry for the inconvenience" and people are getting pissed.

Feel sorry for those using 15kl and more per month View attachment 1139408
Nah, BS. We are ALL paying more, no matter how our mayor tries to sugar coat it. We use 7-8Kl/month and will end up paying more because of plonkers who couldn't care less.

We, when using 9Kl/month which costs R23.93 will we now pay nearly 10x more??? I mean FFS!

Where you get 10x ?
D = 25.3 per kl
Cur = 23.93
That 5.7% increase

URGENT ALERT!!!

UPDATE ON THE WATER DISRUPTIONS

The Municipality would like to inform residents that the water pressure at the Standford Road pump station has reduced significantly.

The technicians were able to fix a burst that was suspected to be the cause of the low pressure on the pumps. Although the pipe has been repaired and re-opened, the pressure has remained too low to allow for the installation of a third pump, since only roughly 60 million litres of water per day is being pumped to the western areas.

Water is still being supplied, but it is being used entirely by the lower-lying areas, leaving nothing for the higher-lying parts.

This is the third burst discovered since the pipeline's repair operations began. As a result, the repair period is considerably lengthy.

The teams are currently troubleshooting to determine whether or not there are any more serious issues. An update will be sent as soon as possible.

Water tankers have been deployed to the locations below:

1) Roaming in Barcelona.
2) Verdun Road, Checkers.
3) Airport.
4) Hunters Retreat Spar.
5) Sherwood Spar.
6) Schauderville Moore Dyke.
7) Roaming in Malabar, Extension 6.
8) Linton Grange PnP
9) Roaming in Gelvandale and Parkside
10) La Provinc, Old Seaview Road

We appeal to residents in the low-lying areas to please reduce their water consumption.

We would like to express our sincere apologies for any trouble this has caused.
