Why is every decision made by SABC always seen to be political?

Can't they make a commercial decision about not showing it and then just live with or learn from incorrect decisions...if it is in fact incorrect from a ratings perspective...without having to bow to vocal minority pressure every time?

That's how it seems to work elsewhere.

I think that there is some merit to your arguement. I remember a few months ago, that British channels were not going to show the rest of England's WC qualifiers once they had qualified.

Yes SS & SAUK broadcast the opening game. And what a game it turned out to be!

Where did I say it was political? I merely implied that SABC is run by a serious of incompetent buffoons who need to take notes from etv if they want to be profitable.

If they want to make money they need to advertise that they will be broadcasting the tournament, secure advertising deals and re-arrange there schedules to ensure live matches are broadcast.

Getting the deal in the 11th hour means this tournament broadcast will most likely cost the broadcaster and in turn, the general public, because they have no acquired additional resources to cover the cost. This is not how you run a business!

It's my TV license money and my tax that funds this ill-run organisation and I think I have every right to be vocal, as a result!

Great - SABC tells us they have secured the rights - so why are they only broadcasting this afternoons game at 1 o clock tomorrow morning ?

As I said, didn't leave themselves enough time to reschedule everything around AFCON.

So they didn't plan on getting the broadcast rights ? Surely there can't be anything not worth dropping on SABC TV in the afternoon?

Are we going to get any games live ?

ah - then the info on the dstv guide ( web, not the mag ) is out of date.

Perhaps SABC forgot to pass on the info... bugger, will have to watch the 1 am replay.

I was really hoping that Egypt got the last spot at the WC, thought it would have given Africa a better chance of having more teams in the knockout stage.

Ummm how do you figure that, they could not get past algeria, how would they progress in the world cup?

Ivory coast and Ghana are the only possibles, nobody else in africa could do anything.
