No bail for Mpumalanga farmers charged with murder, violating a corpse

How long does it usually take to have that bail hearing?

How can they not know pretty much the same day whether or not that brain is human?

Finding out whether or not something is human is a very quick test. Don't even need complex machinery
. Simple antibody test.
Yup,
The best way is to compare it to a human brain. et Voila!
The trouble comes in finding a human brain for comparison.......
They are in short supply in mzansi.

This whole case stinks to high heaven and I tend to agree with this sentiment.

1. One does not "go hunting" unarmed, so in all likelihood it was an attempted farm invasion gone wrong;
2. The brain that was found could just as well have been from a sheep or pig for consumption by the farmer or his workers, but no IT HAS TO BE FROM A CORPSE;
3. The charges are also suspect as there appears to be no physical evidence of a corpse, mutilated or otherwise, so where does the "violating a corpse" charge spring from? Based purely on the presence of a partial brain that couldn't even be confirmed to be human?

Nah, I don't believe the narrative for a second. Besides, the article too one-sided for my liking.
A well reasoned argument ( as befits a man from the zwartkops river valley).

I dearly want to believe that this is in fact the scenario. That would be infinitely better than having to believe that I share this country with people who would :
a. accost intruders on their property.... (for sure!)
b. Kill said intruders....(ok, perhaps necessary, perhaps not)
c. Crack open said intruder's skull and EXTRACT THEIR BRAIN????? (getting really weird now)
d. store brain in a PLASTIC bag. (c'mon, what about the planet?)

But, on the other hand, we did have that bloke who fed his victim to lions...........
see my comment to @porchrat about why the brain is hard to identify

sadly in the meantime the war of words and taking of sides has already begun............

P.S. For the monumentally stupid : the bracketed comment to point d is SATIRE, and is in no way meant to belittle the fact that people are dead (allegedly)

I would have assumed someone wandering about with a human brain would be the reason you get no bail.

If that brain's human those people are definitely dangerous. What kind of lunatic removes a person's brain...

You're discounting voting season in South Africa. Now we might even have that person with no brain giving testimony for the prosecution. I mean, if the Groblersdal dog can morph into a lion in court, why not? :whistling:

You're assuming logic. While I joke, there's a history of these types of strange cases come voting time. It does not do real justice or real victims any favours.

this does not make sense at all.

articles say "police received tip off of buried burnt bodies in evander", police say they were "told about buried burnt bodies in delmas"

these 2 areas are 70km apart.

police said they found a "brain" wrapped in plastic(??) buried on a farm in evander, as well as human remains elsewhere on the farm.

the tested "brain" is not human. there are no corpses on the farm.

the "human remains" mentioned is blood splatter elsewhere on the farm.

how do you just find a "something" wrapped in plastic, smaller than a melon, buried on a farm. a farm is a huge place.

why the hell wrap a supposed brain in plastic, you can feed something so small to animals.

only the citizen has an article on this.

this is a load of kak.

either the article is fabricated, or the charges are an attempt to rid a farmer with "several properties in the country", of his properties...

considering the eff supposedly picketed outside the court, i suspect the latter.

this case went fom leandra to kinross, to evander, but now delmas.

nee wat. kak stories, i will change my mind when something makes sense.

children asking why their fathers no longer come home for their usual monthly visits.

Ja nee ...

Our grandmothers are still grieving back home in KwaZulu-Natal, hoping to find their children’s bodies. We have still not been told where their bodies are buried,” said another family member.

They told Ridge Times that Mnikathi and Ximba have children asking why their fathers no longer come home for their usual monthly visits.

“How do we answer this?” they asked.

You tell the kids that the parents are thieves or attempted farm murderers, and got caught.

Don't do crime.
