No clarity from Uber on mysterious airport surcharges

Uber dodges questions about secret airport fees

Uber is loading its fares to and from South African airports with surcharges and parking fees without warning riders about the extra costs.

The ride-hailing service did not provide clarity on these fees when asked about them, but a driver I spoke to following one such trip said the extra money goes straight into Uber's pockets.

Scammers. You’re lucky if you have family or a friend to drop you off and you can avoid filthy cars, unsolicited lame conversations and bad driving.

I have found a cheaper solution. I ordered a uber eats and when the then driver comes to deliver my sandwich, I would offer the driver R50 to drop me off home. Works most times, unless they drive a scooter then it is a real mission to fit all of my baggage, but they make it work.

Scummy. Error my ass. They should not change the charge after the fact in the first place. Also any extra changes should go directly to drivers whether less or more.

It's for the bribes that they have to pay ACSA officials to park.

Meh.... at the price these guys want, it is cheaper to pay for the pre-booked parking at ACSA airports for even 7 days instead of an uber ride to and from PTA.

And i've learned from social Media that UBER is no longer as Safe as it was.. I would often comment how dangerous Bolt is, seems Uber is going the same way

strange that Uber does not display these charges before you book a ride, (surge pricing)
swear its like Uber trying to profit from people trust.

The airport surcharge was in the quoted price for me. This reader who complained probably works for the taxi industry.
