Has anyone else had this before?

Connectig device.....
The PPP link control protocol was terminated
Session disconnecting
Session disconnected
Reason: Disconnected by modem

Can't get any help from the "help"desk.
Using my trusty mweb dialup connection at the mo. Actually seems faster connecting to myadsl.co.za using mweb than I did with sentech :(

Hiya Mad,

Yep, I have had it all day. Numerouse calls to the call centre. At firdt the standard "It's only you" response. Then, numerouse promises from the call centre to call me back. Which of course didn't happen. I just placed my final call to the Sentech Help Centre now. I was told to move my modem around and try find another tower. Never mind that I have a R2000 antenna set up for this crap.

I have lost an entire days work. Thank you Sentech for an absolute misrable 7 months. I curse the day that first I ever heard of you or your absolute crap service. I wish to god that you never escaped from the depths of the abortion bucket to which you were rightfully consigned. May your misrable souls burn in hell for all eternity.

I will NOT put up with this anymore.

Contract CANCELLED!

I had the same thing, on tower 126.

Apparently only Fourways and Radiokop towers? Can anyone else confirm?

Hell, my gran on a scooter with a memory stick is faster than Sentech's MyWireless!

I'm on tower 66 fourways exchange - no connection problems. Gonna upgrade my firmware and then try to re-connect.

Mintek operating but back to the past with variable speed.....1K to 8K

My graphs look like a cross section of a mountain range with various cliffs and then slowly builds up to only die again.

This S*CKS

Hey GE,

Feel the same as U - Lost a few hours work - Ended up dialing in. What a joke when paying R600+ for an always on connection. Think I should send my phone bill to sentech :)

Noone - Just to confirm. I'm also on tower 126 Radiokop (Well not at the moment)
Problems started this morning.
Got a freebsd box running PPPoE, and could not connect. So moved the modem to my xp box (USB) - This is the usual thing I do b4 I give the helpdesk a call - Just easier that way.
Well I got the usual - Move to another part off the house, reinstall the software, try it on another machine cr_p. Oh and the famous - U the only one having the problem - Yeah right. Thank goodness for myadsl where I can confirm that I am not the only one having the problem.

Anyway - Still down - I am currently getting a "signal" from 66 - But no network access :)

Upgraded firmware 5.0.1.60... and reconnected to 66 in fourways. Everything seems fine except for the pathetic speeds. 256k package.

Wow - 126 is back up and working.
Must have been 'cos I moved to another part of the house :) NOT!!!!!

Next time there is a problem and we get asked to move to another part of the house, reinstall the software, try it on another machine cr_p - We should start asking them to
1. Check your MW links
2. Check your authentication servers
3. Check if anyone else is having the same problem.
4. Stop lying ;)

Just a little scared to move back to my PPPoE connect - Might never get back on ;)

madsimba, chatted to Carlos earlier, at least he didn't tell me to try a different tower, thats just stupid.

I'm not sure why, but I get coverage loss on 126 radiokop. Has been running pretty stable the last hour or so (also upgraded to the new firmware, check the technical forum for instructions)

At least my international browsing is fast-ish now, but I seem capped at 22kb/s Going to try p2p just now, should get full 55kb/s if there's no problems with the network.

But so far, dare I say it, things are looking okay. Hope things will look as good as it looked for me before the 256k upgrade :)

Well I'm back on dialup :( Guess I spoke too soon.

Thanks for the info noone. Have upgraded the firmware (Download via dialup was really not that slow.... Guess I have just gotten used to slow downloads).
Will try later to see whether I can connect again...... Will give some feedback on the new firmware (depending on whether I connect at all)

Well, right after I wrote that it disconnected on me, went to sleep, woke up now, and its so slow you wont believe, packetloss like crazy... its slower than a 14.4 modem, and yes, I have been on a 14.4 modem!

Hell, my gran on a scooter with a memory stick is faster than Sentech's MyWireless!

Hehe, I don't think that Carlos is ever going to tell anyone to try another tower after my response to him. Poor guy, I really feel sorry for him. I have run an IT helpdesk and I know how it can get. But he should phone back when he promises to.

Anyhow, my Cancellation letter went in last night and boy do I feel better. It's like months of aggravation and frustration just came to a head.

Anyhow I think I know how to fix my pings. The problem was on my side the whole time. I stupidly switched off my ADSL and got MyWireless instead.

So I called Telkom and ordered ADSL again. They can install within 21 working days. LOL, I think I need a strong drink.

I haven't been able to see 126 (Fourways Golf Park) since yesterday. Anyone else having the same problem? Or rather, is anyone using this tower at the mo'?

For what it's worth: Last week I was told that a tower in the Fourways area was to be removed for some reason.
Other towers in the area have had their range extended to almost 10km to fill the gap!

Thanks dbnnet, that would explain the response I got from the 0rcdesk (which was to connect to tower 66, the other Fourways tower).

I have managed to find quite a good signal (4 lights) in my garden, but it dies when I move towards the house (over a space of about 3 meters); I am assuming it's to tower 66, I haven't hooked the modem up to my PC to validate this. Grr. Well, will have to move my antenna. Again.

If it's true about the tower being decommissioned, what pi$$es me off is Sentech's complete failure to inform us (in particular, those using the tower) of this. Even after I called them to find out what the *&%^& happened to the tower.
