On 20 May 2015 Ramaphosa announced a new dispensation for e-tolls which included the scrapping of toll-fees for commuters who are infrequent users, who pass less than 30 gantries on the Gauteng freeway network per year. This should see infrequent visitors to Gauteng who use the e-tolled roads travelling free of charge.
Now 6 years later that still have not been implemented. I stay in the Freestate and have never passed 30 gantries in a year yet I still get an account every time I visit JHB. So don't hold your breath even if they scrap e-tolls today it nay take a few years before it is implemented
