The ASA should really start to fine companies who repeatedly break the advertising rules, and use the money to employ more staff to streamline their business.

Surely users should be compensated? not that it will ever happen, but boo to mtn on that.

Typical of MTN. Fairly ok Network. Incompetent staff.

And when will that useless entity known as ASA grow a set of B*lls, for ****'s sake?

Can someone use this as legal grounds to get out of an MTN contract (false advertising therefore breach of contract)?

Seriously, its like 100 SMS Messages. you can give all customers a 1000 free. It wont put that much strain on the network.

The bad publicity they get for it is not worth the 100 text messages.

True, Syndyre. Repeated ASA rulings against MTN will no doubt having a damaging effect on their brand.

MTN will rather SCREW customers and lose customer respect than to compensate with
R0.0000023c worth of sms's...

I really have NO RESPECT for MTN with their SAD EXCUSE & POOR SERVICE.

They are the A$$E$ of the telecoms industry...

My contract expires at the end of the year, and I'm taking my R999.00 per month contract away... Sure it means nothing to them, but I tell the whole world how crap they are.

I can honestly confirm to directing 9 of my clients away from MTN to other providers...

If I just had the time I would surely put up a ANTI-MTN site. I really do hate the company, how they treat their customers and their crap service and network.
