No Google Nexus 4 for South Africa: the real story

This phone will sell like hotcakes of Google's shelves.

The fact that LG is looking to retail them for nearly double though the retail chain overseas is crazy and is gonna throw customers for a spin.
Those customers that can't get hold of the Nexus 4 via Google Play anyway.

I think I'm quite happy with my Galaxy Nexus and will grab a Nexus 7 tablet, even wifi's fine, as I can use the phone as a wifi hotspot.
Now just for 4.2 to makes its way down to the GN handsets :D

agreed, must say I am happy with my galaxy nexus as well and don't really see the nexus 4 as a big upgrade...and not a fan of the glass back.
Cant wait for 4.2 to come to Galaxy nexus.
Will probably upgrade when the successor of the nexus 4 comes out...just hope it doesn't have a glass back.
However I am contemplating getting the nexus 10, very interested in the device and holding of until there are reviews from blogs and users on the final retail unit.

Just gonna wait for a supplier to unofficially port them in, or import myself then....

I'll childishly flaunt the device in front of vodaworld and mtn headquarters.

zakdoc89 should have them coming in ;)
Enjoy the flirtatious flaunting :D

There have already been reports of quality issues with the Nexus 4 - coming from LG I'm really not surprised.

But I reckon the local operators do not want it, because they would have to sell it for a lower price compared the Samsung Galaxy S III and the HTC One X. In other words, it makes their entire stock obsolete and is much cheaper than those phones.

Everyone keeps talking about the Nexus 4 oooooo booo hooo everyone has atleast a dual core Android phone by now.
GIVE ME THE NEXUS 10 NOW!!!

The Nexus 4 is a quad core, not a dual core.

Its just! Its just!! You know the farken way they starve us of technology in south africa!
I'm so staved!!! I'm so hungry right now! I still don't have a Windows 8 tab x86 atleast the new atom and don't know when we'll see it in SA... No surface tabs! No Nexus 10! And little hope of it officially coming here at good prices

I'm just so hungry right now :( I can't even concentrate on anything else

Google's biggest mistake with Android was partnering with the carriers.

I think the operators are afraid of offering this high end smartphone for between R3.5 to R4.5K. It will sell like hot cakes and affect the rest of the smartphones going for R7K and up. You'd be dumb not to buy this phone at the expense of the S3 and iPhone 5 etc.

Just don't buy their Optimus crap...they'll get the message soon enough.....

Meh LG suggesting to buy their own branded device vs buying a nexus device manufactured by LG.
Two totally different things, most people would want the nexus device because it receives faster updates from google and is a native android device.

Im smelling a rat here... those excuses are so bad they're laughable. When I sold hifi's as a teenager, companies used to give us financial incentives to push their brands over others. They can give us whatever bs excuse they want, there is something bigger going on here. This is going to hurt a lot of people and the players dont like it.
Maybe we should speak to walmart about bringing them in en masse. There is a huge open door here for someone. Lets see who's first to go through.

Mr Knott-craig- you want to sign a few more customers over???
