No Google Nexus 4 for South Africa: the real story

Im smelling a rat here... those excuses are so bad they're laughable. When I sold hifi's as a teenager, companies used to give us financial incentives to push their brands over others. They can give us whatever bs excuse they want, there is something bigger going on here. This is going to hurt a lot of people and the players dont like it.
Maybe we should speak to walmart about bringing them in en masse. There is a huge open door here for someone. Lets see who's first to go through.

Mr Knott-craig- you want to sign a few more customers over???

I could agree more! :) I think Walmart should bring in the full range of Nexus Devices!

Just to go off topic a bit - That optimus phone really looks like a rectangle with round edges and as all we have learnt from the Americans, Apple is the inventor of that phones with round edges. Hopefully for LG this would not be that popular and therefor not expose them to the wrath of the Apple lawyers.

My first thought as well, but I did not say anything, because I cannot even tell the difference between a GIII and an iPhone. ;)

Looks like we're not the only country LG is pissing off-

I wonder if that means even if we can convince a supplier, it wont be any cheaper than other high end phones.

I can't see why the excuse of not selling enough units is not plausible? People on this board, or in this section may know enough about the Nexus 4 but do you think we really big enough to make a dent in the market?

Out of interest, how many of you actually have the old Nexus?

I can't see them spending huge cash on marketing it either, and if they do, then I doubt the pricing would remain the same.

Don't get me wrong, if they were to bring it here I would get one in a heartbeat. I just understand why they won't.

I think it would be a much easier sell than the optimus G, especially with the google brand behind it, and once word gets out, this fire will burn out of control.

Isn't it one of the most high spec'd and (relatively) cheap smartphones to date? How on earth would that not sell? I was hoping to get the Nexus 4 with my next upgrade...

I think Bugatti Veyron sell more units per month than LG does phones. :D So we not setting the bar very high here.
But I hear what you saying.

Haha, the sad thing is we totally hate LG now but we'll STILL get a Nexus 4 either via someone importing small quantities or direct imports.....end result, LG wins!

Maybe this is part of their PR campaign....LG - NO, IT WILL NEVER SOLD HERE BLABLABLA!!!! Two weeks later...LG - We've managed to secure a contract with an operator (sensing Vodacom) and it will be arriving shortly!!! HooooRaayyyy!!! At double the price!!!! Still HoooRaayyy!!!!

Nexus 7 -Imported
Nexus 4... To be imported.

Seriously, FU Operators, LG and Google. I blame them to a certain extent for this as well. The play store is cripled in SA. Only apps, no other content and no way for local devs to sell apps without a foreign bank account.

All lame ass excuses. In SA we are getting ripped of on pricing for phones. Price for this phone will be less than 4k here, so loads of ppl will buy this fone. LG, apple, samsung, and carriers will all make less profit per fone. That's real reason its not coming here

I honestly believe this phone would be great for carriers as they would be able to put good contract packages together at relatively low cost. Instead of these packages that have a sexy phone but bugger all minutes and data.

Exactly, I will sign up with the first company that will offer the nexus 4 on a decent contract.
