No Hsdpa gone (Tower Maintenance ?)

Hi,

I would just like to if anybody else have had this problem :

Ive had my MTN Hauwai E220 usb modem for about 6 months now. And it has worked 100%. I had good hsdpa/3G coverage and was very satisfied with the service.

But for about a week and a half now I cant get HSDPA coverage and my edge coverage is very bad (Brackenhurst Area).

I was just wondering if MTN does maintenance/Upgrades to there towers and this is why my coverage have changed ?

Has anybody else had a week or 2 down time then it comes back up again ?

My main concern is that Im permanintly cut of 3G HSDPA :(

Any help would be apriciated

Yeah prolly just upgrades or servicing/repairs. My 3G/HSDPA signal dropped from 71% to almost 0% overnight (checked using Ginggs tool). It was in the same place it . As usual phoning MTN help desk was fruitless since they never know anything with regards to updates,servicing and only know if many people report the problem...Give it another week then try phone customer card to have a look or speak to MTN_Data_Dude :)

Thanks Mike, I hope its thats the case, if its temporary its Ok with me. I
understand that its not a perfect world as long as its not permanent :D

Did your connection come back to normal again after a few weeks ?

Maybe when you see an mtn tower, just stop and look at the tel. number on the container ( that should be the number to call if you have querries on whether a tower is up or down). I cant remember if the numbers are the same but i know when i do work on VC towers there is a certain number you need to call.

EDIT: If it is maintanence then it shouldnt be down longer than normal working hours, unless the guy forgot to call back telling them to switch it back on of course.

Thanks Acid,

I phoned there coverage department on the 12th of July 2007, They helped me find the nearest tower and saw that they didnt get any response from it.
So they loged my complaint and said a technician would look at it.

Its know more that a week later and still nothing, I phoned them again but she said they had no feedback from technician.

Its almost three weeks now its been off. I cant use the modem at all now, it has a top send speed off 10 to 20, but the download stays on 0 :(

Hopefully it get sorted soon, this is basicaly a month im paying for which I cant use it at all, that R500 and 2gig down the drain....

Thanks for everybodys help, lets hope they get it up soon.
