The 7% to 25% story sounds bogus to me. The government specifically targeting one company for increased taxes?

I think the real reason for the lack of stock is that its very likely that on 9 September Apple will be announcing a range of new iPods (rumoured to include cameras). So if I were you I'd wait until then before buying a new iPod.

..or just import a Zune instead ;)

Core has a reputation for doing all kinds of bad things with their Apple Distribution Monopoly, it's more likely Core is doing something, not the Govt.

This is an international trend...

Most likely has something to do with the fact that Apple will be releasing new iPod's next week
