Will just stop giving donations to all the "Humanitarian" charities and focus all my corporate and personal donations solely on the Animal Welfare Societies. Every single person and corporate association should do the same IMHO. Humans make stupid choices - animals have no choice!

Why in many instances is it outside interest's that have to highlight corruption and inefficiencies. Where are the Trade and Industries Dept who the Lotto falls under interventions. Lotto seems to be a huge cash cow for senior executives.

Leaked bank statements revealed how IAM4GG, soon after receiving the Lottery funds, in turn paid R2 million to a private company of which the sole director is Letwaba’s cousin. The NLC has previously declined to give details of the project, including where it is situated.

The other complaint is related to two grants of R10 million each to non-profit companies Zibsifusion and Dinosys to build toilets at schools in Limpopo and the Eastern Cape. A GroundUp investigation revealed how the two projects were effectively a single project run out of Ramulifho’s Pretoria law offices.

So I'll play devils advocate to some degree on this.. as much as them deciding to not fund Animal Welfare next year from Lotto funds absolutely infuriates me, it is understandable given the challenges in this country and how the money could be used for much better things.

In saying that though "30% towards the fight against gender-based violence" is a total and unutterable waste of fscking money. That 30% should be used to fund more child hood development things, or provide soup kitchens or something of actual value to the poor in this country.

The Lotto sponsored soup kitchen in the town near me had a computer centre for the residents too. The first sign of trouble was the manageress' car being taken away and then the internet switched off. Later the electricity was cut. Many rumours of food stolen. No investigation has ever been done.

"Mahatma Gandhi acutely observed that "the greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." To seek to reduce the suffering of those who are completely under one's domination, and unable to fight back, is truly a mark of a civilized society."

A certain politician's pig farm comes to mind.

And that would be a case of the entity over extending itself or relying on promised payments that never materialise not necessarily a case of lotto corruption

This decision is sickening.

I have decided this myself a long while ago that all my donations will go solely to animal welfare.

So I have been giving solely to Lucky Lucy Foundation almost up to the MAX I can deduct early for donations. Think this year I might reach my target. As was stated, animals have no choice. There is a dire need for animal welfare support as it is.

My Taxes which is deducted from my salary should be used by Government to help people. (I should not have to add "In Need", but with the ANC they would say "yes, we are helping people. Myself and my cronies")

I am also seriously thinking if I should should further buy any lotto tickets at all. I feel their priorities now has changed too much onto the wrong things (nevermind the lining of their own pockets as has been reported by Ground Up as well).

How much is prioritised towards lining their own and connected pockets?

I worked with someone who is quite high up in National Lotteries Commission (on the C level). He was corrupt, and a complete moron on top of it. He run operations for a new startup that was started off the back of a multiple billion Rand bid. He gave out positions in the new startup based on who wanted what positions...

And let me tell you, the ensuing chaos and losses would make you vomit.
