How do you prepare mince - beef or mutton?

Some peeps add some serious spices, others a can of chopped tomato, or even lots of veggies.

How do you do yours?

I keep mine quite simple:

Fry some onions and mushrooms in a little butter. Then i fry the beef mince in a bit of oil. Add some seasoning. Add a can of chopped italian tomatoes from Woolies and some tomato puree. Proceed to add some red wine and some Robertsons Italian herbs (prefer fresh parsley and basil but can't always get that.) Let it simmer.

I used to make a pretty mean mince.

Let's say about 500g mince.

Add some oil to a pan, and heat. Cook 1 chopped onion until translucent. Add mince and brown it. Dissolve one stock cube in 1/4 cup of boiling water and add to mince. Add 1 can of tomato and onion mix. Add water 1 table spoon gravy powder until a paste is formed. Add gravy paste to mince. Stir well, then simmer for 20 mins.

Eat.

I make what I call Curry Macaroni. Takes 40 minutes and just love it.

Cook some macaroni or noodles.
Fry some onions and mushrooms in a pan. Then add your mince.
When mince is nice and brown add a can of tomato puree and add two teaspoons of mild curry powder(you can add curry to taste). Leave to cook until curry is fully cooked through. Voila.

You can either mix the macaroni and mince or dish it up separately.

PS: I always add some grated cheese on top after dishing it up.

Heat oil in pan,add sliced onion, minced garlic + couple of chopped chillies.
Add mince,herb seasoning(various),2 beef stock cubes,can of chakalata,can of tomatoes,simmer till done...
Throw in baking dish, add mashed spud on top,top that with sliced tomato then grated cheese...bake till cheese is browned

Finely chop 1 large onion.
Cut 2 potatoes into small pieces (R2 or smaller).
Fry onions in a pot until golden brown.
Add 1 can of chopped tomatos.
Add mince.
Add about two cups of boiling water to 500g of mince
Add beef cube to 1 cup of boiling water and stir until until desolved.
Add mixture.
Add mince spices and a packet of instant sauce (something meaty lol, not smoked ham and cheese!).
Add potato pieces.
Add some chopped carlic.

(everything must be covered with water/sauce)

Cook for 10 minutes on low to medium and then add mushrooms and veggies of choice.

Cook for another 10 minutes and test potatos.

Rice takes about 20 minutes to cook so must be on stove when you are starting with mince. Pasta takes about 10 minutes so you can start before you add mushrooms and veggies.

If the mince is to watery for your liking you can add some onion/mushroom soup to thicken the sauce.

This is great with spaghetti!

I find that grinding/dicing a rasher of bacon into any form of beef mince makes it awesome. Admittedly bacon makes anything awesome but there you go.

Mince needs garlic and those small cans of tomato puree/paste. I'll eat that anytime.

We use it for Bolognese - with canned tomato, onions, carrot and celery. Garlic as well.

add curry, mince, tomatoes , onions, tomato sauce , boil and eat,
from time to time maybe add a few carrot and garlic in it, I keep it really simple :p

Butter.... then oil? Sheesh...

I'd do the first one but I'd cook the mince (lean steak mince, not the other crap) in with the onions and mushrooms right after the onions start becoming translucent. Gives a better flavor and is a lot less oily.

Usually then do a couple of spices (usually salt/pepper/garlic and chicken spice) with two table spoons (depends on the size) of tomato paste and half a cup of water. Stir that in and let the water almost cook off.

That doesn't leave a nice oil ring around my mouth after I've finished eating and goes very well on toast with cheese :)

I usually enjoy more pepper than chicken spice fyi. keeping it real simple and not letting the chicken spice over power any other flavor

Also lovely if you put in some potatoes ... they cook nice and soft with the mince ... and if you add turmeric, the potatoes turns a lovely golden yellow :)

boil for 20 minues in brown onion soup with chopped onions and lots & lots of vinegar
open windows and get out of kitchen
add "salt & vinegar" seasoning
serve on toast
