Hi all,

I brought a white Cell C 3G USB dongle on Monday. Its one of those 2GB for 12 months deals.

Monday: It worked briefly on Edge but was too slow so I disconnected and then it showed "No Network".
Tuesday: It worked brilliantly and showed HSDPA.
Wednesday (today): "No Network" error all day. Not able to connect at all.

Bearing in mind its always from the same location. My laptop is fixed in position on my desk. And we are in Century City and I am getting full 3G on my Vodacom iPhone.

What am I doing wrong?? Is this normal? Should I take it back to the shop?

Thanks....

try to uninstall and install it again. take the modem completly off, where in the control panel the phone and modem option, take it out there after you uninstall the modem software. then delete in the registry too!! restart and install the modem again, see if that will help.

I had erratic speeds too, tried everything. Including homeboy's recommendation (above) Then I ran the latest anti-virus deep clean and my speeds have remained static - not "whooosh" speed, but definitely a GREAT improvement. It was weird, my desktop icons disappeared and my monitor (desktop) turned blue. Everything back to normal now.

Check the light in the modem and post here or read in the manual what kind of connection you have. If modem blinks once a second blue or green, it means modem is already registered to the network 3G or 2G respectively.

Hi all,

Thanks for the advice! I uninstalled and re-installed the device and now its working fine.

Hopefully not something I need to do too often. But at least it works...

Hi all,

I am finding I need to uninstall and re-install every morning!!

@Cell_C - I will check my PMs and get back to you... thanks.
@dadiggle - Yeh, I used a stick when overseas recently but I uninstalled that software. Do you think that could be causing the issue?

Still no solution.

Every day I need to uninstall and reinstall the software. What a joke.

The Cell C guy keeps on messaging me asking questions. I supplied him with every bit of information, IMIE numbers, SIM numbers etc. Still waiting on a real response...

It says ZTE at the bottom...
There does seem to be an issue with the Huawei modems where they sometimes don't pick up the correct network in '3G Preferred' mode, see here.

I'm not familiar with the ZTE dashboard, do you have an option to switch to '3G Only' or '3G Preferred'? Does either mode give you better results?
