No new iPad, bad tablet sales

Worldwide shipments of tablet computers slowed down in the second quarter because Apple didn’t release a new model of its trend-setting iPad, research firm IDC said Monday.

There's also a new Kindle Fire on the way - leaked specs are pretty awesome

I believe it is to be expected. The iPad is now one of a gazillion options. It will more than likely go the way phones went. This doesn't mean the iPad is in any way inferior. People got used to the tablet idea and will shop around now.

Yeah that's true. I do wish there were better Android tablet options around though atm. The Nexus7 v2 is the most interesting Android device in a LONG time. Samsung don't even seem interested in that market.

+1

Seems like the best Android tablets are not available in SA unless you want to deal with PC suppliers.

For whatever reason, they keep 'forgetting' something - either a decent screen (ie Nexus 10) and no 3G, or a average screen with 3G. A Nexus 10 with 3G would be awesome, as it has an excellent screen with the highest resolution display of any tablet

No longer true! The new Nexus 7 just released in the US and soon in the UK and Europe, now has the highest-resolution screen of any tablet, period! Awesome piece of kit, and my name's on the waiting list.....

Both Nexus 10 and iPad 3+ have a higher resolution screen. Nexus 7 v2 is an awesome looking tablet. Nexus 7 v1 turned out to be a disappointment though. It didn't have great longevity and the screen was subpar. Rumours of the new Kindle Fire are also quite promising.
