The driver of a spanking new Lamborghini was left red-faced after his car was impounded by police for causing a disturbance by revving along Durban’s beachfront on Sunday.

Metro police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Parboo Sewpersad told TimesLIVE the metallic green Italian supercar was not licensed or registered.

"The driver contravened the National Road Traffic Act. The car has been impounded and the owner has been told to bring all documentation to us. He was causing a massive disturbance by revving his engine. It is a high-powered vehicle and even a small rev causes a disturbance for patrons and residents," said Sewpersad.

A Facebook post by Metro police commander Steve Middleton about the impounding of the Lamborghini garnered mixed reaction on the platform.

Good... The revving should ultimately have been irrelevant. The lack of plates on a public road should have been enough.
Wish they made a habit of impounding every car that drives without plates. You seeml them down the N3 this time of year. I once saw a pair of idiots stop and refit plates because they'd noticed cops ahead.

1 rev maybe 2 and a few seconds of full chat is music to my ears from that V10.

Idling around revving over and over and over he deserves to be shot, in the leg.

Almost the same as how most weekends at 2 -3 am if you go stand outside and listen you would almost certainly hear some drunk **** limiting a motorcycle

Its a Lambo let him rev his engine. An unlicenced vehicle is another issue all together , and what about all the taxis on the beachfront playing loud doof doof music and being unroadworthy ?
Whataboutism. Do you ask what about the Lamborghini every time a taxi is impounded?

Oh maybe just a little too excited about his new ride, didn't you rev your Hemi300c a little when you bought it?

We all did if it sounded nice, not many of us did it in an unlicensed vehicle that is audible from many blocks away on the beachfront road.

Even if it was licensed and didn't rev though, the vehicle should have been impounded for looking fugly. I'm disappointed in Lambo for letting an owner desecrate one of their gorgeous vehicles which such a fugly colour.

Yeah a rev or two sounds great, when it carries on continuously then it gets really annoying.
I have a guy living nearby who has one, you can always tell when mates are around because he is taking them on a joyride and you can literally hear exactly where he is speeding around.
