South coast off tooWoke up and there is nothing to connect to. Modem says there is 100% signal. Rebooted, checked again, Nothing. Changed network type to 1800, nothing. Changed to 2400, nothing. Switched off again, nothing.
I sure miss the internet, Afrihost!
I signed up last month and the fastest I got was 3.4Mbs. That is not even 3G speeds. Despite many complaints, nothing has been done. I got told once that I am tethered to congested tower. I even bought a Xpol-6 antenna and pointed it to different towers but still no success. I have now cancelled the sim and told the ir support that if they cahrge me for a service I was unable to use, I will take it up with the consumer council.
How can I do this? I have a huawei b315-22One of the things I have discovered about the Rain network and the towers they use is that they are not always configured the same way. For instance, sometimes I get really poor upload speeds and incredibly fast downloads, then sometimes it's the other way around. I check the CID's every time there is a noticeable change and usually I will find that I have bounced to a different, sometimes closer tower. The resulting speeds can be wildly different between towers (there are about 4 of them within 2kms of where I live).
To mitigate this and to get the most balanced results what I have done is force my modem to only use 1800MHz signal, which is apparently only available on some towers. This has resulted in a much more balanced speed of about 20Mbps both up and down.
Still got that antenna?I signed up last month and the fastest I got was 3.4Mbs. That is not even 3G speeds. Despite many complaints, nothing has been done. How'd'ya do that?I have mapped out around 6 towers in the Berea/Bulwer area. There is a nice 2600 one down the bottom of the road here pushing 70/5 and 1800 pushing 20/20. Currently rain died on me right now, so here is to the posting gods.
And.... Surprise necro.
How'd'ya do that?
Also, before this lamp post we tied the poynting to burglar guards and put the router on the washing mashine machine and got 80mbps downGoogle earth Pro, Google mapsand driving around. You can use a cell tower locator and then go from there looking at tall buildings. The high speeds are always more consistent during the day on the 2600 tower. Using a Poynting antenna and an old lamp post on a box pointing in the general direction.
