Sentech, another public entity providing electronic communications, questioned the need to establish the new company while Sentech itself can provide the services contemplated in the bill. This prompted Yunus Carrim, the public enterprises committee chairperson, is to ask the department to present a compelling case why Infraco is necessary and its work cannot be done by Sentech.

now that, folks, is humour of the best kind - LOL...kind of obvious that this is now a huge turf war between DoC (Sentech ROFL) and DPE (Infraco) [why did the Minister of Comms not make provision for this in her May 24 policy directives??????????]

wow - what a surprise that they are opposed...can't wait to see government (telkom) suing government (infraco) at the expense of the the consumer

[btw my understanding is that they will be regulated by icasa other than being granted the licence]
