"Blandford said that they recently received six of the original Tesla Powerwall units and they were all sold to installers on the same day"

Whew ... All six! Madness

All you need is a connection that sells used *wink wink* batteries really cheap and you could build your own. The same type that are used in trucks or wireless high sites. :X3:

I cannot understand WHY there is not an SA company manufacturing something similar.
Surely building a "power-wall" is NOT rocket science ?

At the right price there must be an infinite demand ........

So at R77,000 for 10kwh it's not too badly priced.

The 15kwh one for R108k is probbaly a better option.

But how long is their warranty? And will it be honoured?
somewhere on their site was something on warranties and guarantees.. havent check them out in detail yet (will have to wait this weekend) but a friend remarked they looked like a very good alternative ..

10 Years at 80% Capacity left with daily 70% DoD. I have the 15Kw unit, working nicely, but house never uses more than 30-40% of the battery during night, so the next day it's usually still around 66% left and then solar charges it up again. Set inverter to not drain it below 50% in case it's a cloudy day and load shedding kicks in.

Oven + plates and geyser(solar) on Eskom directly costing about R50 per month via prepaid.
