Nobody is stealing your data – Here’s the proof

Still waiting for someone to show me their disappearing data with some screen shots and proof of data purchases, all such claims I have been asked to look into had app or user issues.

I think some of this might be caused by software bugs, but my experience is only with iOS and Windows on a PC. Twice recently I've had in-progress data transfers continue after moving out of a wifi zone or losing wifi signal due to reception issues. On one occasion it was app updates and on another a cloud upload of video files. Both times, those activities destroyed my data bundle even though the apps were configured to not use cellular data. I've also had an issue when my device was connected over USB and Windows decided to use that as the internet connection instead of the Ethernet connection, finishing off the bundle quite rapidly. So all these reports of data loss may well be a side effect of some other problem.

Smartphone operating system features like Wi-Fi Smart Assist can also cause mobile data to be consumed, while app updates are consumers of large chunks of data.

Turn off your Wi-Fi Smart Assist (Apple) or Auto Network Switch (Andriod)?

The test method does not really address the concerns people have.

Very often I see people saying things like "I just bought 100mb data yesterday and now it's gone" and then continues to blame the service provider.
but... It's the same people who uses Youtube, Facebook and Instagram daily with their apps and phone auto updating.

It's not an issue about whether apps use data in the background or what what, but that MTN blatantly takes away your data after set amount of time. I realise they tell you this, but still, if I payed for it I should be able to keep it! A nifty little scheme/way to siphon their clients money.

Except MTN until a week or two ago
Exactly. Funny how this article appears just now. Also a stupid and useless test method to deliberately use data and then look at how much was deducted. It's what happens to balances in between that's the issue and this method would never have caught MTN stealing data.
