I'm an MTN subscriber and I want to upgrade. The phone I want is the Nokia 5530. To my dismay I have discovered that the 5530, which was released a couple of months ago overseas, is not available here yet.

Does anyone have any clue when MTN will get this phone? A search of mtnsp.co.za turns up a price list with the phone on it, but no additional information.

Thanks for the response. I did notice it on Nashua's site the day after I posted this. Since I'm with MTN, though, I'd have to cancel my contract and port over to Nashua. Might not be a bad idea regardless, now that I've had a look at their Anytime packages... Vodacom talk 120 has them solidly beaten.

A friend of mine sold a few imported 5530's. I must say the phone looks nice, especially the white & blue. It is slightly smaller than the 5800. The rest of the specs are the same, but it doesn't have GPS and 3G. The price on MTN's contract is about the same as the 5800. So it's a matter of sacrificing GPS and 3G for good looks. (BTW the 5800 isn't a bad looking phone either).

5530 is same price as 5800 XM cos the phones is a new release.Wait a month or so for the price to reach it's proper level ie. below 5800 as is in world markets.

I'm more interested because it's not much bigger than my current phone, and a little slimmer. Don't want to drag a life raft around, just want a phone that's good at music.
