Who has one of these and actually enjoys using it?

If Nokia doesn't release a firmware that fixes all the issues soon, I'm getting rid of it... its like carrying around a useless brick.

Issues:
1.) Phone crashes and restarts itself frequently.
2.) Email now won't download.
3.) Sometimes when I get a SMS, I can't open messages and need to restart the phone.
4.) GPS fix is incredibly slow.
5.) Switching between internal and external screen sometimes doesn't happen.
6.) Dialled calls get dropped within one minute, causing me headaches and high phonebills. Not sure if this is an MTN issue (no surprise) or a phone issue.

I'm so tired of carring this brick around that hardly functions. Last Nokia I'm going to own. I think my plan of action is to sell it, and buy a Tytn II. This phones problems way out weigh its features.

Sounds like you got a bump model. I have had one for over a month, and haven't had a single problem. In fact, its one of the best phones I've used (and I've been through plenty).

Maybe check if there is a firmware update? But mine is perfect

Well, if you sell it to someone now you will actually sell them a useless E90. That's not on. Take it back to wherever you bought it from and have it replaced. The E90 is not a rubbish phone at all. You are the first person I hear of with this problems.

Oh... I'll let them know why I'm selling it. It'll be above board.

If you look around the net you'll find quite a few people complaining about this phone... stating it to be the worst communicator yet.

And that makes it ok?

How about people with the phone comment?

I wouldn't have made the mention of Nokia better be releasing a new firmware soon if I didn't already have the latest firmware.

This really is a crappy phone... How can they have so many different design faults on the same models but on individual handsets, if that makes sense... should have stuck to Windows Mobile.

I'm on my second E90 now (first one replaced by MTN/Nokia) and things are much better now. There is a really bad batch in circulation ... and I cannot even try to imagine what it must be like to have bought one of these duds for > R8k. Has a new Nokia release ever been plagued by as many issues as with the E90? I doubt it. Nokia was very ambitious with the E90 (stretching the boundaries) - and therefore I believe that if one can get a solid E90 one will have a fantastic device that will be relevant for a long time.

Don't think anyone will be able to get an E90 anytime soon in any case.
No stock available anywhere!

I have had mine for 2 months now and it works fine.

Initially the messaging app used to hang , its a common inbox for bluetooth files and mms and sms and email but it came right on its own by me just switching the phone on and off all the time with a battery removal for an hour.

On the GPS side there is a Nokia Map Updater that makes the OEM GPS work 10 times better and you get a 3 day trial (voice / turn by turn voice prompts working)

I still get an occasion "hiss" with calls in phone or communicator mode with or without loudspeaker being active but its 1 in 10 in my own experiences.

Battery life is 2 days and a hour or 2 over in the manner in which I use it and short of me cracking the outer screen , I can't complain and all and I do use the phone for every function that it allows me to use.

There is NO firmware updates as yet.

There is a new batch with same firmware BUT with new chassis where the inner screen is further back (has a thicker rubber on the edges so that the qwerty keyboard does'nt leave marks on the screen and also a slight raise edge of keyboard where the camera and voice activator buttons are)

On that note with the chassis update ONLY MTN is issuing them at this time as Vodacom is in denial that the phone is being re-manufactured , they still claim its been suspended and yet Vodacare whilst holding that argument is prepared to commit to R150 to replace my damaged outer screen cover (still waiting patiently for them to call me back on this matter though)

And if you do take the phone through MTN and you have issues , they book it in and send it to High Volume Repair centre in GP which DOES NOT give you quotes over the phone for parts , you MUST book the phone in and the turn-around time is 30 days and they refuse to honour you with a loan phone or telephonic quote.

Why this Exactmobile father and son setup for Nokia repair in CT and the rest of ZA messed up who knows , apparently MTN is looking or is wanting to setup a repair centre somewhere for these specialised phones (they must 1st figure out how to run their billing systems before they start flashing phones otherwise they make yet another continental phuckup)

Let's face it ... the E90 is a high risk phone for the brave ... but with high risk comes high rewards for those who end up with a solid device (majority). The E90 is not for the faint hearted.

Yeh... if this phone keeps giving me grief I'll take it back, if they want it for 30 days, they either give me a loan phone, or I don't pay my MTN subscription for that month. They want to sell crap, they must support crap.

Going back to Nokia was a B-A-D idea...something I seriously regret.

if you read the manuals and are prepared to experiment then its an excellent device to have , if you use it to make phone calls and only that then get something else.

like i said i use all the functions and aside from my cracked screen (my fault) and a slight squeek i have no issues at all with it except the fact that 1/2 the idiots at MTN and Vodacom and the authorised repair centres refuse to give me a price on repaicing my cracked screen.

may as well just buy a replacement from l8shop.net for 8 pounds (if they ship to SA) and the dodgy store on Ebay wont answer my emails as to if the screen replacement is genuine.

ah well you win some and you loose some.
