This is a really useful mod to the Nokia HDS-3 headphone so that it can be connected full sizes earphones, an amplifier or computer etc.
Simply what one does is unsolder the earbuds from from the pc board inside the HDS-3 and replace them with a Lilliput jack.
There's a nice article describing this at http://origin.mine.nu/nokia/nokia_hds-3_mod.shtml
When I did this mod, I did not use the suggested connector as it makes the whole thing too bulky - what I did was to get hold of a 2RCS to Lilliput socket connector, remove the RCA's and solder the 2 ends which were connected to the RCA's into the HDS-3, one to left and other to right. This creates a snug connection.
All the normal attributes of the HDS-3 push button are operational as is its microphone.
Normal caveat applies - if you break anything, then that's your problem!
