Nokia and MTN sign 5G deal for South Africa

Nokia has announced that MTN South Africa selected it as one of its 5G radio access network equipment providers.

This is the first time MTN has selected Nokia, and the network equipment provider said it would replace one of MTN's existing suppliers.

@Jan

Which provider(s) equipment are they replacing? Is it too much trouble to just post it in the thread. I really do not want the nausea inducing feeling of reading an article by you, so early in the morning

could be one that advertises in mybb

Nokia? Didn't know they're still a thing. What year is this?
Just because they are not a big phone player doesn't mean they don't have other equipment out there.

Motorola is another player in this field.

Nokia is massive in the telecommunications sector.

They weren't just a consumer phone company.

What you're thinking about is the phone division that was sold off years ago.

Nokia employs over 200,000 people in various divisions.

Thank you all :laugh:

Nokia bought over Siemens Telecommunications late 2000's.
It was of course first introduced as a merger, with the new company being called "NSN" Nokia Siemens Networks", but the name was later changed again to just Nokia.

Similar mergers happened between other mostly European telecom brands because of big competition from China.
