Nokia Lumia 1020 launched in SA

Ha! Colour me surprised I didn't think we were getting it.

I am due for an upgrade soon, now I need to think which phone to choose between this (Lumia 1020) and the iPhone 5s

What would you recommend fellow forumites?

The camera on this phone looks awesome but I'd still be more inclined to go for the iPhone or better still, the new LG G2 or Nexus 5.

Why wouldn't we?

Well it's been out for a while, it was released in Nigeria at the same time that a big rara was made over the entry level lumias being released. What a price though, sheesh, if MS/Nokia want to make it into our market they need to make it cheaper than the alternatives.

And just yesterday Vodacom quoted me R13 120 for a cash buy.

My own personal opinion is this is just a tad on the pricey side, by about R5k.

You will fill up the 32GB quickly with a 41MP camera - and no slot for an SD, so you will constantly be transferring pics to your computer.

At 10-15MB per photo you'll be able to do hundreds of photos before having to transfer them to your PC.

That is if you don't save them in RAW which is coming to the 1020

Functional but fugly. :(

Can it be separated from what appears to be an afterthought casing?

The pics in the article are with the optional camera grip/extended battery/tripod mount

Uh... Looks way better without it. still looks a little odd with the massive camera though.
