Nokia Lumia 1020 with 41-megapixel camera unveiled

I saw it reviewed in "dpreview" some time back. Amazing picture quality. But is it a camera or a phone?

Whats the end MP of the taken picture?

Depending if you take 4:3 or 16:9 it's either 34MP or 37MP, the phone saves two images though one is 5MP for sharing and the other one is the full resolution photo.

No you didn't, it's only been officially announced today, you're thinking of the older Nokia 808 PureView that was running Symbian.

No matter what Nokia ads to their phones it does not make WP any better. I use a proper camera to take proper photos and a proper phone to do the phone stuff. These hybrids - like the S4 Zoom-a-dingdong - are lame imo.

Soon we'll read that Nikon is buying Nokia to bring out a NikNok D1.

I still want to see daily usage compared to the rumoured i1 and Zoom… don’t know how much longer to wait… Will probably be compared early next year…

The thick part looks like it contains 2x AA batteries as used in cheap cameras. Hell no.

That front camera resolution is just a slap in the face. Why did they even bother installing one?

Reminds me of something like this:

Memory not expandable and only 32GB for a 41MP camera. Who are they marketing this too, people that know about pixels and file sizes will steer clear, people who don't know about it will be put off by those awful looks. What is its optical zoom anyway?

I think they've finally made a proper camera, too bad about it having a phone.
