Nokia Lumia 710, 610, and 808 - South African launch dates and pricing

Am waiting nokia, bring it on

Sent from South Africas most popular smartphone BlackBerry

What still no 900, hell they giving them away for free over in the US

I'd rather wait for the WP7 version with the pureview camera rather than get the 808. That said, in the SA market I still think the symbian market is strong (still know a lot of Nokia/Symbain^33 Users)

R4000 for a phone with single core 800mhz cpu and just 256 ram

It can not multitask properly so doesn't need more. Something I am sure they will change once Windows Phone 8 comes out. Oh and unlike Android the OS is not free ;)

The 610 Pricing seems to be a bit too much for an entry level windows phone at least price it between R2500-R3500 then it's ok

Does not look like value for money to me. With all the cheaper droids available, it would be a hard sell.
Think my wait is over and my mind is made up. Not worth waiting for these paltry devices

What you gonna get? :)
Myabe a Sammy (mid range like the Ace or y-pro.)
So used to Nokia's, it will be quite an adjustment. From what I've noticed people adjust very fast to droids, so hopefully I won't have too much problems.
I really just phone and sms most of the time so I do not see the sense in paying for features I will never use. Learned my lesson with Nokia N97

Erm todays smartphones/markets is nothing like that device/market. You can not even begin to compare them they so far apart.

I use to carry a Nokia 9210 and did not do much with the device, not because it could not do it, more a case of everything you tried to do was such a workaround that it was simpler not to even bother with it in the 1st place.

Not with today's tech. Its a case of oh wait I need a curency converter, search click 1 min later I know exactly what I needed.
I need a flashlight, click install hit on and there is my LED light.
Whats on TV tonight, click install, aaah nothting much but there is a game on Saturday need to set a reminder...

Before you know it you so hooked on all the apps that you have no clue how you lived without em.

This is some good news. I think I need to spend time with a new gadget, maybe then I will change my perception. Thanks for the heads-up

Thank you for the article Jan (and jes).

It is a little disappointing that the price of the lowest range is so high.

256MB of RAM and they charge that much. I hope that is not the final pricing.

An article posted earlier on the site showed the exact specifications of the hardware, and compared to what's out there, it;s pretty far behind.

Their reason for having such low RAM etc is that Windows does not need more. I'm thinking though that if you tried to load more than 10 applications, the phone might start feeling it. And for that price, having 10+ apps shouldnt be a problem

Well simple, you can't. Windows Phone does not multi task like PC/Android does. The applications suspend and call on services to run simple things like music playback and file copy.

Disappointing is putting it mildly. Vote with your wallet.
