Seeing as the last thread about this phone turned into a flamewar, and I am still interesting to know what people think of this phone, I have decided to start another thread about it.

I heard it has a GPS function? How does this work, is it decent compared to your regular GPS? Does it cost extra cash to use the GPS function? What else does it do?

Normal dedicated GPS should be much better but I do not have that experience. On the N95 the Internal maps works fine but you have to subscribe to the voice guidance facility before you can use it effectively.
Route66 works well on N95 GPS but no addressing is possible as yet so if you want to go to "MAIN REEF" then you have to find a uncommon street name as cross section to get close to where you want to be. prompting is very good even in difficult road sections.
Garmit XT GPS works fine with addresses and the lot but I find the prompting poor as compared to Route66. So I use both. Route 66 to get me close and GarminXT to take me to the door.

Further as stated I have two N(%'s with so far no problems.
Its a question of preference but between my SE P910I and N95 I prefer the N95 but dearly miss the touch screen function of the SE. I am getting used to the N95 keys tho.
None of the other proclaimed software problems was experienced by me. Maybe its because I did not load the particular application or whatever caused the problem. Maybe I am just lucky. Who knows.

The phone, 5 Mpixel camera and flash, video and GPS suits me fine and if thats what you are after then it is worth it.
If you do not want the GPS and want rather a dedicated unit then there is other phones to look at that could suit you're liking. A blue-tooth GPS unit can be coupled to most of the phones.

All in all the package of the N95 suits me fine and I have no problem to report. I am waiting for the SE response as I have two contracts to upgrade and will see then what SE has to offer.

bwana, can you maybe just clean up the locked thread and unlock it please. It's very irritating when info about ONE subject (N95) is broken into different threads, it better when everything is centralized. Maybe just merge this thread in there as well?

Good feedback. So you say I will waste money if I buy the QUEST II? Apart from screen size as I also found that a smallish screen issue. But if the voice prompting is good like route66 I drive with the unit in pocket just following the voice. Only once was led on a goose chase through JHB as my kid changed the destination by accident and I only realized it when I looked at the map when I wondered where the hell the GPS is taking me too. Instead of via the M10 east I ended via M2. LOL

What software?

both route 66 and nokia maps .... but the nav is pretty good used it extensively in CT ... the A-gps is using your Internet connection to speed up GPS lock ... works like a charm ... i do agree with the v11 of the nokia firmware it take sometimes 1minute to get a gps lock but with subsequent firmware releases i get lock within literally seconds

Version 11 did not have A-GPS. The Garmin XT have intersections under Where To?

I'm using it and works well for me!:)

Well I came to the conclusion last night that the Garmin Voice guidance timing is terrible and far below par. They, their developers, should use Route66 for a few months and learn how to do it.

What's the battery life for the N95 ?

I'm a big SE fan, I'm learning more towards the K850i, I almost fell in love with the N95, but I read the battery lasts for a day, if you're lucky, with average use.

Mine last longer than a day with Average use. Depends what YOU call average.
But there is car chargers available.
The regular charger is so small you can carry it in your purse!
A spare charged battery would also be an option.
Closing applications and functions not in use also helps

I will not panic because of a battery!
