My 'government' vaccine experience was excellent, like 200 people and it moved so fast and efficient we didn't even have time to sit down on the chairs, we all stood because it was moving so fast.. I was done in 45minutes, that's 200 or more people in 45minutes. I even got follow up SMSs from the government saying if I felt seriously unwell I must visit XYZ hospitals etc. All n all it was excellent.

If the site you went to wasn't great, then go to another one, there are hundreds. No appointment needed, nothing, just go and get it done and stop being a pansy.

Not vaccinated...after three times of trying this week because of no staff, no vaccines and again no staff - Just the usual government admin stupidity....and a long line of coughing people I didnt fancy standing in....Not sure I see the logic in lining up with loads of other covid carrying people and shuffling around on covid splashed chairs when I have made it this far without catching it (I did register sometime ago but heard nothing from the Stupid Ones about where to go).....Just about zero social distancing and lopsided masks hanging off faces...No thanks...

It was announced long ago that there is no need for registration and it was now walk in. The facility I have been to had chairs that were sanitised the moment someone left.

Sure...But I havent got it yet so I can still brag for the time being....

( I live some distance from another town and currently not working so I cant afford to be driving all over seeking the wisdom of the vaccine....local pharmacy still waiting on Government paperwork to finalise before they can start doing their bit....)

Local clinic?

Is this person on this thread?
"I think I am fairly fit because I run a lot. It knocked me out. I went nine days with no food, just consuming liquids. I am a resilient person, but this thing made me cry," she said.

"That's why now I think I need to go and get vaccinated."

I can imagine going into a supermarket must present a significant challenge for you.
Clouds of covid in the air, covid splashed fruit and vegetables, trolleys and baskets layered with Covid...

What's this? What's this? There's Covid in the air.

What's this? What's this? There's Covid everywhere!

Considering that you now have unlimited free time:
Why drive yourself when you can go hitchhiking for free?! The vaccination is also free!!!
Otherwise, just wait at the station? Because perhaps that Transnet Vaccination Train will soon make its way through your dorpie?
Or ... what about checking the vaccine station site trackers for active sites, then calling one or more of those nearest to you, securing an appointment, so you'll only have to hitchhike for one return trip ... because that is, allegedly, safer.

I've learned something this week from the Libs:
  • It's not OK to pray for protection against Covid.
  • It's OK to pray for those abandoned in Afghanistan.

And here I am, been in close proximity to many who have had covid, 2 of whom died.
Also worked in a state hospital covid icu for a while - I have also managed to dodge the bullet.
So maybe we stay lucky, or maybe not.
Even without luck, it we do take a hit in all probability it will simply be a case of staying home and managing flu-like symptoms.

But, avoiding hospital is what I want, even more so, icu.

I was vaccinated a little short of a year ago (J&J), so far so good.

With all things in life there is risk and reward.
The probability of infection is small.
The chance of hospitalisation even smaller.
The chance of icu admission is miniscule.
The chance of death - near zero.

To date, the vaccination overwhelmingly protects you from hospitalisation, icu and death.

So the chance of hospitalisation, icu and death is small at the outset, but with the vaccination those risks are pretty much off the table, and therein is the reward.

This is reasonable as you decided for yourself it's worth the reward.
But here's where it gets tricky: should everyone be forced to get this vaccine?
