Yes the vaccines lower hospitalizations and death as a % of total within each group, however the overall number confers no advantage between the two groups, even when vaccination rates are taken into considerstion.

Example:

Vaccination rates in >50 is around 85% (80% for 50s up to 90% in 70-90s).

Total positive cases reported: 16,100
Total positive cases reported in Vax >50: 13,700 (85%)

The infection rates are in direct proportion to the vaccination rates.

Did you end up in hospital? The side effects are mentioned so you know what to expect. You were probably one of the unlucky few who developed symptoms other than a sore arm, but at least you can rest knowing you're far less likely to die. Go get your second shot...
