Hi folks,

Heading out for my first Afrikaburns and living out of a tent for 5 days.

I've bought a nice and tall 4 man tent, solar shower, twin blowup mattress and other goodies, but can any seasoned vets recommend some good lighting suggestions? Seen some nice battery operated ones and a couple of liquid fuel lanterns (not sure what a good idea those would be for this particular festival), but can anyone suggest some good ones with a solid lumins for both inside the tent, as well as any headlamps worth looking at?

thanks for your time

I'd suggest a gas lamp.
Mine, a Cadac one, is like 30 years old and I still use it on camping.

Even the smaller ones is great, like this one

Why, the battery ones doesn't always give the desired effect and doesn't last as long as you want it too.

Dont forget the mosquito repellant, hand sanitizer, toilet paper, first aid kit and a tin opener.

Seems these things get overlooked often.

Dude, get yourself a good head-LED torch.

PnP sell the Energizer type .. those are good enough.

It basically looks like this.

You absolutely CAN NOT go camping without something like this.

I use mine frequently ... e.g. when I take the rubbish around the corner when it's dark or when I hear a strange sound outside.

These lights are STRONG like Mother-Russia!

I use an old oil lamp with Citronella oil as repellent. Good idea this.

@Picard - +1 to headlamp, always a lifesaver

All good suggestions. Now along with the headband torch you can get a hand held fleshlight and you're all covered.

Oh, that kinda camping. I was just about to say that the thread title doesn't make sense since all "campers" are n00bs anyway.

Ponder, this is Afrika Burns you are talking about... any and all creature comforts are vital, as you are in the desert for a week.

We have a huge truck and a van driving things down for us (bedouin tents, chairs, tables and anything large) as it is simply too much to fit in normal cars. Also this is for a group of 30 people, so there is a lot of stuff...

Oh stuff that.Because its going to be flooded... I'd rent the biggest 4x4 RV I could find with all mod cons. Like this OOK Transport NUo5e9f.jpg and I'd have nekked women manning the fire hoses in the stair wells keeping hairy hippys at bay with their flaming bundles of wood

Throw away the blowup mattresses and rather invest in stretchers. You will save yourself a lot of grief.
