Hi there guys, hoping someone here can help me set up the VPN through the router.

In order to setup VPN client connection on your router, it has to support at least one of these connection types: PPTP, L2TP or OpenVPN. Furthermore, it has to support it as a "Client" (as opposed to a "Server") to allow you to connect it to NordVPN servers.

This is from Nord's help page, and I do have PPTP and L2TP connection types readily available on my router.

My security settings also allow for these types pass-throughs to be enabled.

I only have my PPPoE settings available from my ISP.

Fibre connection.

Thanks in advance.

What's your question exactly?

Don't use PPTP.

Well you see Nord has apps for PC/Mac/Phones but Smart TV's and consoles are obviously not able to utilize the VPN.

The work around is to run the VPN through the router but I'm at a stump as to how you'd set it up.

You must have router that supports specifically Nord's VPN. Check Website which routers are compatible.

As you have mentioned fiber connection, all depends on your link speed. You must be aware that most of consumer routers do not exceed 20Mbps on the VPN connection, even those marketted as "VPN routers". To get better speed, router must offload encryption in hardware, or have very powerful CPU like x86.

Maybe you should look for Ubiquiti Edgerouter ER-X, it support many encryption schemes in hardware. It will be slow with OpenVPN however, still faster than consumer routers. ER-X is using powerful software, but GUI is only partially implemented, you must be prepared for using CLI. Alternatively Mikrotik RB750Gr3, it is a similar hardware and has more complete GUI. In both cases there is no product specific manual, only a generic one for the OS across various hardware.

Thanks for the informative reply! I do have a mikrotik lying around. I'll maybe give that a go. It's the rb952ui-5ac2nd model.

Worst case scenario I'm bound to using the VPN on my PC/Phone.
