normal temps for amd 2800 barton

hi guys,

thought i ask the local experts,
whats the normal temps for a amd 2800 barton, currently its running 60 deg with normal usage. the Cpu has a stock fan.
The pc will reset once in a while when playing games? (after a crash/reboot, it's shows over 75 degrees in the bios . What of type cpu fan/case fans would i need to sort this out. Not really keen on these 10000 rpm tornado/flashy-blinking/so loud i can hear it from two rooms away fans. Any suggestions/links would be apprieciated.

maybe just getting a good copper heatsink and some artic silver thermal paste will help, at least it did back when I still had a Athlon XP 2000+

My Barton 2500(running at 3200)is around 40,while i am playing game,it never go over 50.My fan is a stock fan.So you better install you fan nicely with good thermal paste.

Check the thermal paste, I have a feeling that there is crappy white shin-etsu stuff on there. Get some arctic silver from your nearest PC store. Remove the heatsink and clean the old just off with alcohol and an earbud then apply the new stuff. Should drop your temps to between 33 and 40 degrees.

My sons set-up was doing the same thing recently.
The temperatures were climbing through the roof.
Hitting almost 70 degrees while playing games.

The chip in his machine is a 2500 Barton running at 3200 speeds. One of those unlocked Barton's.
I have since set the FSB down from 200 to 166 and all seems a bit better now.
Some of those old Barton's run hot.
The Mobile Barton's were far superior. Not many were brought into South Africa.

Perhaps the case needs better air flow.
Cut a hole in the side of the case in line with the CPU and install a 120mm fan.
Still the best solution for air flow. The 120mm fans run slower and quieter and move a lot of air.

dude if you overclock a cpu from 2500 to 3200 no doubt its goin to overheat lol

This is no normal 2500+
Like the 1700+ JUIHB chips if you know what I mean?
Just marked at 2500+, but actually a 3200+.
Something like that.

I am starting to get confused with all these chips on the market.
Barton's, Thornton's, Thoroughbreds. Gosh. When is it going to stop.
I may be using an Egoli chip one day, who knows.

Using a Venice in my own machine now.
A 3200+ that runs at 2650MHz 24/7.
That makes it a 4100+ according to Everest.

@guang 40c at 3200 ? how does it sound ? , the noise would drive me insane. Luckly the cpu is fast enought for my needs.
@JUGGY, do the paste need replacement after a couple years? im running with the same paste (hah, wondering if it actually has paste on it) from when i bought it.(+- 2 years)

My old 3000+ is in my brother machine, hits 65 degrees under load, and thats with a copper heatsink and nice fan and thermal paste. It doesn't cause any problems...

Anyway, what I have on my 2,6GHz socket 754 Athlon64 is a Zalman CNPS7000B-AlCu, should cost around R270, its keeps my processor at 43 degrees on the low speed (silent setting). The bottom has a mirror like finish, so it is more efficiently contacting the CPU and the fan is 92mm so it moves a lot of air.

Yeah, it goes hard and looses it's ability to transfer heat. The Arctic Silver has fine silver filings in it which allows it to transfer heat much more effectively.

Give it a bash, you wont be dissapointed
