JOHANNESBURG – Two people have been shot and wounded in what appears to be a ‘hit’ along Garsfontein Road in Pretoria.

Motorists have described what appears to have been a ‘hit’.

While the details around the shooting remain unclear, a driver says she witnessed the drama which unfolded in front of her.

“[The gunman shot] so many times and then he jumped back into the car and sped away. The other car, I didn’t see who or how many people were in there because it was tinted windows; but I saw that the front window was completely smashed and on the side of the car you could see the bullet holes.”

Orgazma drink owner critical after Pretoria shooting

Karabo Ngoep, News24

Pretoria - A business owner and his colleague are in a critical condition following a shooting in Pretoria on Friday.

The shooting is believed to be a hit, but a motive is not yet known.

The shooting occurred just before 16:00.

Police said Wandile Bozwana, who owns energy drinking company Orgazma Special Energy Drink, was travelling on the N1 north from Johannesburg with colleague Mpho Baloyi in the driver's seat.

A silver grey BMW M3 allegedly pulled next to their car near the Garsfontein off-ramp.

According to police, the suspects in the car started shooting at the branded yellow Renault Clio.

About 12 bullets hit the car with nine of them hitting Bozwana, five in the lower back.

Baloyi was shot twice, but managed to drive to a car dealership near Menlyn Shopping Centre to seek help.

Police spokesperson sergeant Asnath Malatji said the pair was coming from Sandton heading to Mooikloof.

She said they were investigating an attempted murder case.

"At this stage, we don't know the motive, but are appealing to people who might have seen the incident to come forward with information to ensure the suspects are arrested," she added.

The bullet-riddled car was still being combed for evidence more than an hour after the incident. The pair was taken to Unitas hospital.

The scene attracted several bystanders.

Motorists on the N1 at the time of the incident called EWN radio station and said they had seen one person jumping out of the car and opening fire at the other vehicle. The BMW then sped off. No arrests have been made.

It would have been so much easier if everyone was required to install a dashcam.

Eyewitness News can confirm that the victim of a hit in Pretoria yesterday is controversial North West businessman Wandile Bozwana.

He has courted controversy for the last decade, being caught up in numerous scandals, mostly involving allegations of tender rigging and corruption.

In a recent dispute with the North West government, it was reported that he had secured more than a billion rands worth of business from the provincial government.

While the motive for the shooting is not known and hijacking has been ruled out, it does appear that someone wanted Bozwana dead.

Be very careful who you cross. Especially in this town. Life has little value and chances of you being caught and going to jail are slim

Know sooooo many instant entrepreneurs that had no money one day, and a 20 million rand tender the next day.
All BEE millionaires. See them daily. They usually know zilch about the subject related to their tender, but the first thing they do is arrive in a 1 or 2 million rand car the next day.
Hard to feel sorry for them. They always brag about how they are guaranteed a tender. They buy item X for R500 from us, and sell it to Govt for R5000. Easy money, all paid for with kickbacks.

Port Elizabeth - Controversial local tow truck operator Raven Rungan died from his wounds two-and-a-half weeks after being shot four times while he was on his way to work, police spokesperson Captain Johan Rheeder said on Saturday.

He was also accused of having assisted the now suspended Nelson Mandela Bay head of communication, Roland Williams, with submitting a fraudulent claim to Sanlam insurance.

It is alleged that Rungan instructed former employees of his tow truck company to damage Williams' vehicle to make it look as if the vehicle had been in an accident.

In another case, Rungan faced charges of intimidation, crimen injuria and common assault following alleged threats made over the phone to a car assessment agent.

Among the alleged threats made, which were reportedly recorded, a man is heard saying: "I will **** with your family now. Your life is ****ed. I will get black people to rape you."

Rungan was also facing a charge of culpable homicide after he allegedly hit and killed an 18-year-old Muir College pupil, Anre Grobbelaar, with his BMW M5 in Circular Drive in December 2010.

Not worth a new thread but a nasty guy who, if only half the article is true, got what he deserved.

Gauteng cops make breakthrough in Bozwana murder case

JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng police have made a breakthrough in the murder of business man Wandile Bozwana, arresting two suspects in Johannesburg.

Bozwana and a female employee were shot in a car at the Garsfontein Road exit off the N1 Highway last month.

He later died in hospital.

The North West Business Forum had offered a R2 million reward for any information that leads to the conviction of his killers.

The police’s Lungelo Dlamini says the two suspects will appear in the Pretoria Magistrates Court on murder charges tomorrow.
