Upgrade of modem firmware: 28 September

Certain upgrades that had taken place on the MyWireless network has now been completed. The main purpose of the changes was to minimize interference from overlapping base station coverage.

In order for the end user to be able to derive full benefit from this upgrade it is essential that the modem software be upgraded to the version 5.0.1.62 as well.

The entire process takes a few minutes to complete if the procedure is adhered to correctly.

Please note that we will not be able to provide support for any software version other than 5.0.1.62, after the 15th October 2004 and therefore urge you to upgrade to this version as soon as possible.

For support on the software upgrade please refer to our documents under our download section found under MyWireless - Support – Downloads.

You can contact our call centre on: 0860 736 832 for any further queries.

We appreciate your positive response to this notice.

But there are no links as to where we can find the new Firmware?????

Hehe, those Sentech boys are hilarious[:D] Bunch of [)]

Please mommy make the bad man stop. (Bad Man = Sentech)

You're supposed to upgrade via the the original dialup app

I must be smoking something as well cos I did it about 4 days ago without problem.

Cant say it has made a big difference with anything, pings are pretty good though.

Might be tower dependent? Or more likely number of connections limited?

If we don't take care of the customers, maybe they'll stop bugging us.

noone, maybe it has something to do with the way we flashed the prev version. Anyway, got it from vowthorn's link in the tech section (i think) and manually upgraded

[EDIT] ooops, prev post from noswal slipped inbetween, but that's the link anyway

Turtle - International still sucks! Got 14.97 KBps at 05:31 this morning, 4.71 KBps at 15:25 this afternoon. Now that they've doubled the links to Cape Town and Durban it can only get worse...

I'm still on the old modemware and pings have definitely improved. Even RealAudio is not losing packets any more, even though the performance still sucks.

Before upgrade: ping -n 200 www.sentech.co.za
Ping statistics for 66.18.65.124:
Packets: Sent = 200, Received = 200, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 63ms, Maximum = 400ms, Average = 121ms

1024k speed test:
Your download speed is: 11.01 KBps, or 88.05 Kbps
The test took 93.04 seconds to complete

This dial-up software is really brain-dead: make sure that
C:\Program Files\IPWireless Inc\IPWireless PC Software\Upgrade
directory is empty before doing the upgrade. If not it does the wrong update.[xx(]

After upgrade:

2MB speed test:
Your download speed is: 12.02 KBps, or 96.18 Kbps
The test took 174 seconds to complete

Ping www.sentech.co.za reports 100% packet loss!? Maybe they're sulking. Rebooted PC, reset modem. Still no ping response from www.sentech.co.za. Weird.[:0]
ping -n 200 www.is.co.za:
Ping statistics for 196.35.72.14:
Packets: Sent = 200, Received = 200, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 63ms, Maximum = 327ms, Average = 91ms

Better or worse? Better. Maybe. Apart from the ping. [B)]
