Frustration is getting the better of me!
I have a Novatel card which is 2 weeks old and i've had endless problems with the card. I've re-installed the software six times to try to identify why the card is so unstable. I'm running WinXP SP1 with the ver 0006 of the Vodafone software. Some highlights to my frustration...
1) The software doesn't recognise the card. Just sits there and acquire and searching network. Red LED remains solid red. Reboot has no effect. Some times after this has happened the Vodafone software indicates: "searching for Merlin U630" while the card is in the PCMCIA slot and recognized by Windows.
2) The software eventually recognizes the PC card and the green LED will flash (GPRS). Once a GPRS connection is made the GPRS and VodaCom SA will disappear and will indicate "unknown". When this happens the connection remains but no data can be up or downloaded. Vodafone software hangs after disconnect and sometimes a reboot will allow the card to re-connect.
3) When the GPRS connection is stable it terminates after about 1 to 2 minutes without a reason. Just stops. Vodafone software hangs after disconnect and sometimes a reboot will allow the card to re-connect. The same happens on 3G, but have not been able to test it sufficiently.
4) and just to add to the confusion: sometimes I can connect for longer than 5 hours without a problem!
But the connection problems are now increasing! It seems to get worse by the day.
I'm starting to suspect the PC card might be faulty. The card faults are intermittent.
Vodacom3G: Would the ppl at Vodaworld be able to exchange the card for a new one? I really need this card to work!
Any ideas out there?
