You're aware you can't cure the cold or the flu right? It's a virus, you're body either fights it and wins or it loses and you die. There is no cure for it, all you can do is make yourself comfortable while you've got it, which is what the medicine does.
Vitamin C doesn't work, it's a placebo, even intravenously it won't work. The only thing that could technically work is ARVs, but that's too keep the virus at bay or guard against infection.
I have not had to visit a doctor in years, I doubt any placebo is that good. Previously I had to goto the doc once or twice a year because I always end up getting secondary infections..... now I get natural anti biotic tablets that clear that up too.

My medical bills have decreased substantially and the alternatives are fine.

Vitamim C in itself does not cure anything that's not it's purpose, it gives the body temporary boosts and helps the body heal itself. The other herbs in the flugon target the symptoms..... I have never had meds that are non-sedative work so well and I have been sick so many times I have tried a LOT of them.

Woolworths shoppers may start seeing ‘stock gaps’ in the next two weeks due to coronavirus chaos

Coronavirus-related disruption to Chinese manufacturing and exports is expected to have an impact on Woolworths in the next two weeks. The retailer has warned that some imported items may not be available as it prepares to stock clothing and other products for the winter season.

“Whilst we have not seen any immediate direct impact on our South African business, we anticipate that the extended Chinese New Year will create stock gaps in certain categories from mid-March onwards,” a Woolworths spokesperson told Business Insider South Africa. Shoprite warned this week that it is at risk of losing R100 million in sales as the coronavirus disrupted imports of mainly heaters and blankets.

The coronavirus has wreaked havoc on Chinese manufacturing, which has now been severely disrupted for more than a month.

Manufacturing at Chinese factories has stalled since the start of the Chinese New Year, on 25 January. While the factories were supposed to only be closed for four days for the national holiday, government ordered factories to remain shut for the next two weeks as the outbreak of the coronavirus intensified.

Government then ordered all factories to open again on 10 February, but manufacturing has not returned to full capacity as many Chinese workers choose to stay home to avoid infection, as the death toll in China reaches 2,700. Apple and other international companies have warned that the manufacturing disruption is hitting product supplies.

The disruption caused in the shipping container industry has been unprecedented, and Woolworths says it has switched to air freight for some products to help speed up delivery, and it is also fast-tracking imports from unaffected regions, the spokesperson said.

Have to take Vit C regularly, too, because your body can't store it. Will post the link later, but read a study that showed that Vit C was only ever good for one thing: preventing scurvy. Apart from that, it's not all that useful against viruses (cold and flu), apparently.

I guess one should take in more vitamins and liquid in general to give your immune system a better chance of fighting the virus. But, most importantly, REST.

Japan to shut all schools until April the 8th. Seems a bit extreme, especially since the virus only seems to be fatal in the elderly or people who have pre-existing conditions.

Every school in Japan will shut from Monday in an unprecedented move that will affect 13m pupils and leave parents scrambling to find childcare

The order brings Japan closer to total shutdown and will hit an economy already on the brink of recession as millions of parents are forced to take time off work to look after their children.

Antibiotics won't do anything against viral infections, only bacterial...

Like I said, it only provides temporary boosts. It does nothing directly to the virus it only helps the body prop itself up. There is generally no point in permanent preventative usage even though many people swear by it.

Not at all.
Grampa gets sick.
Kiddo gets sick
Kiddo spreads it at school
Kiddos 2-100 infect their gramps...

I have a permanent post nasal drip, the moment my body goes out of whack I can get a risk of secondary infection from that. The pills clear those up. They are lightweight and I use them sparingly but they are an absolute lifesaver.... and they don't eat at my stomach like the strong stuff does.

I have had cases of having sickness clear up only to come back stronger because of this damn drip.

I can attest to this.

When we had the creche running (in Silverton) we all would get sick like clockwork from some mommy's dearest who got snotsiekte. Mommy dearest won't (or did not care to) inform us of said snotsiekte either...

So glad that is no more.

Also people will try to be a hero and go to work even though they're sick, and infect the rest of the employees at their work.

It helped with scurvy back in the day, so it can't be that useless.

I meant for a viral infection. IV sodium ascorbate works differently to taking oral vitamin C. There are a number of books on the subject with theories on the mechanisms.

Japan has reported its first case of a person becoming reinfected with the coronavirus after appearing to have fully recovered.

...

Philip Tierno Jr, professor of microbiology and pathology at New York University, said: "Once you have the infection, it could remain dormant and with minimal symptoms.

"And then you can get an exacerbation if it finds its way into the lungs."

We don't have enough information to include it in the stats at this time.

There are many more "What abouts" because the world has decided that you still can't trust information coming out of China. So for now we can use what we have.

Heard on the news (radio) that 14% of those who have recovered (in China) have been reinfected.

Same here.

A couple of years ago I had a persistent sinus - and to get rid of it, I took sinutab. However, it got worse, and I had to take the stronger Sinutab. And regular doctor visits too. I said stuff that, took a compral or two, chucked the sinutabs away, and from there on, no more sinus attacks. No comprals either.

We use homeopathic medicines, works out cheaper. There are times when we really need to go to the doctor, but that is so seldom.
